Classic Petra Album
Re: Classic Petra Album
Hey Sue; What if there are 20 or 50 dates? Shouldn't we be happy for the Classic reunion? Both Bob and Greg have confirmed it.
I think John would be happy and proud of this since he said that Greg was one of his heroes and Since the Farewell Petra is "Retired" there should be no Problem with the Greg era Petra getting dates. I mean what's all the envy about, and you demanding dates?
I think everyone should have all the rights to talk, discuss anything related to any Petra incarnation, an promote their shows since this is not TheJohnSchlittZone.net. I know you work for John and I appreciate all the bookings you have done for us to enjoy and to spread the gospel through John's Ministry, but please give everybody else a break to enjoy all aspects of Petra.
Without a Greg X. Volz era Petra there would have been no John Schlitt era Petra, it's a Fact. Greg paved the way for the Petra we all love, and he deserves as much of a chance as John. And also if Greg had not stepped down we wouldn't have all the wonderful Music and Years with John.

Envy? demanding dates? What are you talking about?
I'm answering Brent's question. It's a chat board. Talk away!

Re: Classic Petra Album
Yeah, I'd like to see the dates, so I can tell as early as possible if I need to plan a trip to Nicaragua or India or Finland or *shudder* Flint.
Also, at the risk of alienating both factions, I am excited to see actual members of Petra play actual Petra songs on stage. Loudly. I have no requisite that Greg Volz be there, or John Schlitt or Louie Weaver. Or Lichens, though it would warm the cockles of my heart. Maybe the sub-cockle area. Maybe in the liver, maybe in the kidneys, maybe even in the colon.
I am equally excited about the rumored album which will contain actual Petra songs recorded by actual members of Petra (ostensibly).

I talked to JDB who also spoke with them and he says it's all looking good.

Lichens is a past member that Petra would probably like to erase from it's history. I am guessing Orta would be another. Both were not ministry minded, only wanting to talk to hot chicks to get their groove on. Let them be...GONE!

Re: Classic Petra Album
Id like to see these dates and the confirmed players in this; just having a coverpage website is not enough for me. I sent Bob an email in late March and all he said was nothing confirmed.
I want to see this as much as anyone else; I'm not a greg fan but want to see Mark and Louie again, but I and many others need about 4 to 5 month advanced notice of this to set time off and finances for a show.

Sue didn't say it, but I will. I feel you step over the line there. All she did was asked a question and you started accusing her of being partial or playing favs.fcollazo wrote:Hey Sue; What if there are 20 or 50 dates? Shouldn't we be happy for the Classic reunion? I am sorry if it looked out of line but i could not sense anything but resentment from Sue with every comment she made, and constant doubting.

Re: Classic Petra Album
Other people felt it too, just read the posts. Now if Brent and Sue are cool with each other then that makes me feel better about the whole thing.

THIS is totally true. Not a well known fact, but true nevertheless.BTW Greg didn't step down his contract was not renewed!!

fcollazo, it appears that my 'constant doubting' was well founded, simply from a booking agent's point of view (and I explained the reasoning behind that in another thread). The complete 40+ show tour has not been completely booked.

Re: Classic Petra Album
It can be tricky when you can't see or hear someone, and I'm sort of curious about what makes you assume other people thought the same thing you did, fcollazo. I didn't see anyone else getting after Sue for asking about confirmation of the concert dates or for answering Brent's question. We've all read more into posts than might be meant at some time or another I think. Good rule of thumb: Don't be too quick to respond to a post directed to someone else, and if you need clarification, ask for it (preferably by private message) rather than make assumptions about what the person might mean, especially if it's someone you don't know personally. I need time to plan for stuff too, and I wouldn't go to any concert without confirmation. A lot can happen in the planning stages that can affect whether a concert will happen, so it probably would be a good idea as was suggested that we sit tight and let them do their planning.
Hey, Sue had a bunch of us crazy Petheads over at her house a few years ago, she's very brave.

Re: Classic Petra Album
Sue, I remember about 7 years ago, we were backstage in Ft. Wayne or something, and you wouldn't let me sound check Louie's drums.
I waved my bony finger in your face and said, "one of these days, Sue Dempster, your uppance will come."
You were like, "nah."
But now look. It happened just as I predicted.
