Dio
Re: Dio
What a drag, right? The guy was rockin it in his 70s IIRC. It's sad to see our icons from our era pass.petraman wrote:Sad to hear that Ronnie James Dio passed away today, will pray for his friends and family. R.I.P. Dio.
So many people made a bug deal about the horn symbol that he did. In an interview here in KC, he said that his grandmother did it at one of the shows and it stuck. I think she was Italian, and that symbol went way back. Anyone else hear that? Preachers automatically ran with it, thinking he was a devil or that he was worshiping the devil. I wonder sometimes if the devil would use such a sign, since he is a counterfeit and hard to discern from good at times because of his slyness.
Anyway, I remember him in Black Sabbath, him as a solo artist (even getting air play on MTV with Rainbow In The Dark) and then out with Heaven and Hell. A friend of mine worked that tour and has some killer pics that I might post with his permission on Facebook.
Ronnie, I hope you made it buddy.

Dio sang one song on Kerry Livgren's first Christian album and did a great job. I played that song to honor him when I found out he passed away. The song is called "To Live for the King" and can be found on The Best of Kerry Livgren. Peace and goodwill.
