Okay, I'll admit that Petra was always much better than Stry - per, but what's with changing every occurrence of Stry - per to "Diaper". STOP IT!!!!

Petra gets the thumbs up in the legitimacy department. There are no industry snickers about Petra members spending time at the sex shop in between sessions, doing drugs, drinking, etc. They may be legit now, but back in the day.....

The old Stryper Diapers.
Are Stryper a Christian band?
I remember hearing they were drunk on stage in Australia.
Did the singer get re-married 2 months after his wife died?

Re: Stryper Tube
This stuff has been talked about over and over. There is a reason why the Bible says to let them work out their own salvation, the Bible never guaranteed those that do would make it. All you can do is pray for them and let God deal with their hearts. The Bible only offers one plan of salvation and that is through Jesus and Jesus only.
Bible also has a reason why it talks about gaining the whole world but losing your soul, and that's because God knows that as much as we try to change our lives, the hardest thing for us to do is let go of the World. As much as we preach and sing and try and live a godly life for him, everyday we are faced with excuse after excuse as to why something we don't want to give up is "Ok" to do after all. People say all the time "Jesus lived among the sinners" yes that is true, Jesus went into the sinners homes, but he didn't commit their sins, he came to bring them away from those sins.
I find it funny that Jim and Tammy Baker, Jimmy Swaggart, Larry Lee, Mike Warnke were all black balled from the Christian world, but Stryper, Sandi Patti, Amy Grant, Michael English and Kmax were all accepted, despite the cheating, drinking, smoking, drugs, divorces. (Hey they even opened up their arms to Vince Gill after all was said and done.) Bono has even said that he's the last person that should ever be called a Christian singer, yet the Christian Music buiz welcomes U2 (explicit lyrics, openness to cross dressing and sexual situations on their tours and albums). B J Thomas and Pat Boone have both used Christian Music for their own personal gain and have went on late night shows to downplay their career in Christian Music and yet the Christian World still accepts them.
Don't get me wrong here, I Love Stryper and I Love Jimmy Swaggart and no one is perfect, but let's be real here, my point is we live in a world where leaders of our own faith pick and choose who they want to except in the fold and in today's industry it's based upon, fame and money. No record company, news magazine or any form of media outlet (TBN included) would be in their right mind if they were not in it to make a living. I've been in this business for over 20 years now, but I’ve know many people in it all my life, I grew up in it, so you can say I've been around it for almost 35 years. I talk with many people in the business very often. I've seen way too much to know any different. I know inside people. There is just way to much going on to totally be in it for ministry only.

Your preachin' to the choir here, my brotha' from a diff'rent motha'. I almost had to look to see if I didn't type that response.
Like I said. Take it as it is, entertainment by non-church agency people, and you will get what you expect. Anytime the band calls themselves a ministry band...watch out. They have elevated themselves to a higher set of criteria and criticisms beyond the art related stuff.
People in the world never forget what professing Christians do in their presence. There are too many former road crew, recording engineers, roadies, etc still talking about Stryper stories on the pro production and show related forums. One of their former producer/engineers (BIG metal guy) is on record stating his personal dismay. This is a shame. I don't know how I would handle the stress and the fame. I sure don't know how I would handle the females. I know how I would hope to handle it all. But I am just what I am. I'm an ordinary man. Sorry...stole a lyric.
Far be it from me to cast a stone at the guys directly. I wish they had lived a better testimony for all to see, but so do I. They are a band that happens to sing Christian music, and now secular covers. I do not expect it to be anything other than what it is, clean entertainment. I never considered them to be theologically deep. I never looked to them for meat and taters. That is what the Word is for.
All I know is sellin' Jesus is spooky bi-ness.

Re: Stryper Tube
I wasn't trying to criticize Stryper. A couple of nights ago, there was a glitch that caused all occurrences of "Stryper" to be displayed as "Diaper" on this site.
I was really strange.

Re: Stryper Tube
I thought the debate was how "I am on the Rock" sounds like "Pour some sugar on me" by Def Lepard.

Re: Stryper Tube
"Seen and Not Heard" definately sounds like "Heaven's on Fire." That's an easy and catchy enough hook to be put into two songs from two completely different artists. "I am On the Rock" and "Pour Some Sugar on Me?" I don't hear it. Maybe a little, but "I Am On The Rock" is a way cooler riff!
