Guys, whatever went on with John and Louie I'll leave for you all to argue about. But let's stop with the idea of using Paul and Barnabas as justification. Paul and Barnabas separated over disagreement about the character of Mark. Paul was concerned, Barnabas wanted to bring him along. Scripture is clear that the disagreement was sharp enough that it separated the missionary "dream team". This was no minor disagreement when it's over the character and potential of a man.

Years later, when Paul wrote his second letter to the Corinthian church, he spoke highly of Barnabas. And shortly before his death who did he call for? None other than Mark who was "helpful to me in my ministry". 2 Tim 4:11.

That's why I'll always say, that it will be an act of great maturity, humility and testimony the day John and Louie share the stage at least for one night again. Not for our own selfishness, but because they knew all the kids at their concerts over 20+ years saw them as examples of how christian men should conduct themselves, and wanted to be seen that way. The example of Paul making peace with Mark and Barnabas can not explain this any better.

Also don't forget John many times said: "I will never go on a stage without Louie"

Wait, are you disagreeing with the comparison? Because everything you just wrote argues in its favor. Paul and Barnabas had a significant disagreement, agreed to part ways, never got back together, but continued to speak highly of each other and obviously loved and respected each other personally even though they couldn't overcome their professional differences. This sounds familiar...

Cat, do we really know they never worked together? The reason for their sharp disagreement was settled. Paul accepted Mark. Many theologians question Paul's harsh rejection of Mark. Certainly he wasn't acting Christlike in his lack of patience with him. If he was concerned Mark was weak in the faith, he certainly wasn't comforting him as he commanded others to comfort the weak.

Regardless, this event was recorded in scripture with no discussion of whether it was right or wrong. It simply was, but was never endorsed as some sort of biblical pattern to follow.

Their relationship is/was obviously strained, but you're right, I don't get the sense that they hate each other. I remember reading one anecdote from GMA week couple years ago where John was leaving a common area and went out of his way to stop for a moment to chat with Louie even though he could have easily left through a closer exit and avoided Louie altogether.
