I wanted to give him a chance to tell HIS side of the story, since I felt he didn't get a fair shake to explain what all went on from his perspective.

So I had asked if he would be interested in sharing, and he said he would. So I put it all in a question/answer format, covering his days with Petra, with GXV, and the following years.

Very interesting man to interview, so say the least.
The link is still in its original post, at the top of the second page of this thread: viewtopic.php?p=149883#p149883.

It's a great interview, Sue, and one of the only sources of first-hand information about very early Petra available on the Web. You've done the band a great service through posting things such as that and the historical archives at the John Schlitt site. Thanks!

I feel I should clarify, as I probably let snarkiness get in the way of intent re: JDB. My sincere comment is that, regardless of whether JDB produces anymore or would even be interested in returning to produce these albums, I would hope the band would not choose him, primarily because of his legal history, which does exist and would be used against the band. (Some websites still use the sex-crime conviction of Whiteheart's one-album lead vocalist in 1984 against that band.) I sincerely hope he has turned his life around and no longer does or believes the things he did and believed that led to his arrest and conviction, and it's really none of my business one way or the other, except as those acts, which are a matter of public record, would affect my favorite Christian rock band should that band choose to reassociate themselves with him.

I love how the filter replaces s-e-x with chess. Isn't that going a bit too far? I mean, really, young children know that word.

It was originally done to stop the bot spamming. I think it would be a good idea if we changed the filter words to something more similar to the original word, though. It always takes me a bit to figure out that it's a filter word.

Congrats Shell on 2600+ post...

I can remove word filtering (was imported from the old zone), seeing spam is mostly taken care of now.

unless anyone else sees a reason to keep using it?

I like the word filtering. Perhaps it is better to bracket the replacing word, ie [chess]...something like that. Maybe we could replace "Double Take" with [terrible Grammy-winning album nobody likes]. We could replace "Sue" with [The Petrazone's Cat Lady].

But I could go on...

This has to be a God/sense of humor thing. Today, on the way home from work, I was listening to this station that has some guys who push the envelope with music and humor. Some of it is over the top. They have a Christian guy and a gay guy there and I like to see how the Christian guy holds up.

Today they were interviewing a communications director for the KKK. They were busting his grapes over the KKK's PC website, etc. It was funny hearing this spokesman do his dance. It's also funny, well maybe ironic, that the main radio personality, who normally is nothing close to Christian, would suddenly be asking this KKK guy about Jesus, his origins, etc. When the KKK spokesman gave scriptures for his support that Jesus was a Nazarite, and Nazarites were white, and from Egypt (do a Homer "DOH!" now), these guys actually came back with an educated response.

I find these times enlightening, because people who know and believe Jesus is who he is, or at least know what the story is whether they believe it or not, will stand up for it, even if they are living like hell most of the time.

Kind of kills the "But I didn't any better!" defense that a lot of unbelievers think they're going to throw in God's face at the judgment.
