Yeah, but....exec and any other Texas fans.....isn't that a bummer that they were supposed to start here, and now they're not. I hope they will still come here!

I'm more worried about getting any dates in 2010. I'm praying everyday just asking God for His Will in all of this; maybe He is looking for something different then what we are

I don't see any point in worrying about it. It's all in God's hands and besides, this is all gravy. Nobody expected any of this. We all thought Petra was done. If we get even one of the promised albums and even a few classic shows it will be icing on the cake, so I'm not worried about it.

Your words ring true. I think Albums(at least the first one) will go on without a hitch, but from what I'm hearing unless things change the tour will be downsized quite a bit or put off until they see how album sales go and the market.

Since I'm eagerly awaiting this tour, I'm curious where you're hearing the info about the downsize. I've been searching the net, but haven't seen anything like that.

I think it's just exe expressing his concerns. Correct me if I'm wrong, exe.

I'm not sure about the international part of the tour though. Petra has not been in Europe a lot with Volz. I think they were here in Summer '84 for a couple of weeks, but that's all the real classic Petra we ever got over here. Of course I missed it, since I was only three at the time... But still, there might be some interest, especially in Germany, Switzerland and Scandinavia. And I don't know about Asia, maybe India again or South Korea. This tour might even be an opportunity to get into new areas where Petra has never been before. Maybe Singapore might be possible, or Japan.

Well, we'll just wait and see. Even if we only get one album / DVD with some shows, that's already a big treat. I'm hoping that for the DVD TBN will open up their archives. I think Petra has been a regular guest on their channel since maybe even Washes Whiter Than.

A small part of it is just expressing my concerns, but most of it from talking with a promoter @ 89.7 here and also talking with another promoter that actually brought most of the Christian Artists to Six Flags and other venues for 20+ yrs to DFW.
89.7 has always been a huge supporter of Petra and have brought them here and has success with it, and they have inquired about bringing ClassicPetra but they are saying management demands are very high and some are somewhat off base.
The other promoter is saying that if they have any dates confirmed they should be getting the info out there. If management is waiting until they get a certain amount dates then this tour is in trouble. He has tried contacting them also but they won't give him any info to get started, but they say his venue is too small, its a brand new 1,500 seat church that would like to see what their options are to bring CP in.
This promoter is saying whoever is organizing the tour either don't know what they are doing or are sabtoging it to the highest order.

The reasons I'm not concerned are because Bob's involved with it and he's not exactly new at this. If the ducks weren't in a row, I don't think he would have allowed it. Second, the booking is being handled by William Morris. Again, not exactly an outfit that doesn't know what's it's doing. Maybe this isn't being handled the way you or some others in the business think it should be, but that doesn't mean it's being done poorly. I say we pray about it and we wait and see what happens. Everybody wants to be the back seat driver or the arm chair quarterback, but none of us are the people who were actually chosen for the job, not even Sue, so we need to trust God and also trust Bob that the project is in good hands, unless or until there is solid evidence that it wasn't.

But it is time to start seeing some evidence that we have something on the horizon. The time is getting closer an closer everyday.
The question I have is do they actually have any confirmed dates? If they do then they need to be put on the website so fans like me can organize vacations and such to go and support the actual tour; it will be hard for alot of us on short notice to get things ready for it.
Now if they dont have any confirmed dates as of yet, then this is where I am truly concerned and I'm thinking that its not going to happen like we thought. Both of these promoters I talked to said from their experience that it looks like this is going to be put off into next year.
It is a huge comfort having Bob involved in this but you have to realize how little say so and input the band members have when a tour is being put together. Management handles everything and the actual bands members are usually the last to know.

I guess God failed...AGAIN, because God called Christians to be in this ministry called Petra, and the ministry is not able do it's job to our specs. Maybe God doesn't have anything to do with commerce. Maybe God doesn't control who engages in commerce. Luckily God's work will still be done weekly by the local church, where thety play music atleast once a week....for free.

The concern about sufficient time to plan for vacations is a valid one, but a lot can happen as far as concert dates. Suggestion: If you're concerned because you're not sure the concert will happen or not, plan a vacation at the time and/or in the area where the concert you want to go to is going to be and have other activities to do other than the concert. It's never a good idea to put all your eggs in one basket. 8)

I work with the stage manager for Linkin Park. They have had tours go together in a matter of a month. I have been the engineer for several country artists that pick up one-offs and regional legs of national tours within days. Anything and I mean anything can happen.

Greg has been over seas more than Petra has since he left. Just because Petra did not tour over there much with Greg means jack. There are more than a handful secular bands that never distributed their records, merch or toured in foreign countries but have a huge audience. A few of those bands have filmed shows in those markets. Rush and Journey come to mind. The audiences grew from bootlegs and pirated music/video sales. Since those sales were not tracked, the powers that be did not know fan bases existed until much later. There are HUGE black market CCM sales over seas!!
