Audio Editing

Post by Yuri » Fri Jul 02, 2010 2:27 pm

I got an audio editor from the Internet and I was able to mess with the
volume at the faded songs and I can hear some really awesome stuff like at the end of "Set for Life" If you have an editor turn it up and the end of this song, and you can hear John say, 'Okay!"

AWESOME! I 'm gonna try some others!

Never really been a fan of the fade away, but if you to listen to one I would suggest Creed. The guitar work at the end is smokin hot and probably some of Bob's best. I always wondered about Creed and if they didn't fade away, it would have 2 hot guitar solos

Total agree Creed has a great outro solo,

Yuri turn up the volume on the last track of Unseen Power (after likeness) it has a the mixer guy say "You can't really see it. but you know it's there. It's some sort of unseen power"

Couldn't hear the "ok" at the end of Set for life.
God Fixation is a great album, I am playing it in the car at the moment.. man Magnet of the world is a great song.

I've heard it before at the end of Unseen Power, very cool. I've been told there is a man speaking during the last guitar work @ the end of Just Reach Out but I can't ever hear anything.

I would love to be computer literate and do some audio editing at the end of my all-time favorite Petra song, "St. Augustines Pears" (from GOD FIXATION).

Towards the end of the song, John sings, "And I don't even like pears that well!". Just right before the fade out (you can barely hear it), he says, "Oh, I don't even like 'em at all!". I've always wondered if he adlibbed that...it's very funny!

Hey, I'm weird like that. Don't look at me that way. :?

I heard nothing. Are you sure you got the right song?

In the old days, the fade out on records was faster than the song. The standard fade out time was 10 seconds, and the pitch increased as much as 10 % in many instances. This was to conserve space on the disc. The guitar and cool elements in the fade allowed the musos to get thin toward the very end of the fade. Artists included things in the fade that could not have been in the song because of radio or other restrictions. The fade out was packed with goodies to get people to play the song over again. It worked too.

There are lots of cool, lost, tricks that many people take for granted when listening to music now. I used them when I can.

I agree with St_Augustines_Pears. For me that song has one of the best endings of all Petra songs...

I'm sure that line was inspired by "The Confessions of St. Augustine", which inspired the song as well. Augstine tells basically the same story as the song, about stealing the pears. And he makes the point that he didn't even really like pears.

I don't like the fade away at the Vertical Expressions album. The reason is that it ends to fast. Just listen to My redemer lives. I love the way John sings the last couple of seconds. I really do want to hear more =) The same thing in the end of Blessed be your name. Bob's guitar-solo fades away waay to fast...

Listen to the live version of Creed (from 1990 - 1994). The ending part is great! 8)

I think that was an edit. I think I heard an edit on the sustain on John's voice too.

That's a great video, the Dream team also had a cool ending for "I am on the Rock"

Enosh did this extened version with his band too... I can't find videos though
