Re: John Slick
I remember reading that his wife was dealing with some type of illness. I was at the first ever concert with John Lawry performing and Bob had made some type of comment that Slick would be sorely missed during band intros. I always assumed he had something to do with his wife's illness.
I do know he was asked back for the Farewell taping and he just like Louie declined.

Re: John Slick
He doesn't think much of the Petra years given his posts on youtube.
I think he is a killer player.

God's love hit's me where i live, in my perfect world, because i love the Lord.
Re: John Slick
Look him up and read them. I don't want to add anything more than that.
Let's just say that he makes lite of those times and those songs.

Re: John Slick
He better not be badmouthing Petra songs. Otherwise I will be personally offended for the band.

Re: John Slick
It's not like that guys.
I don't know of any musician that looks back to the first works and thinks that they are the standard by which all things should be measured. He has looked forward and progressed. I think he thinks it was good at the time. But looking back at it, it isn't "all that and a bag of chips" compared to where he is now. I get the impression that it was the era, the styles, the clothing, the concepts that he is referencing in his comments more than the music specifically.

Re: John Slick
Oh. Well, when I compare where I am to where I've been creatively and see progression, I don't think much of the old stuff either. That's ok with me.

Hi Brent
Thank you for some very interesting posts at the zone. I wonder why you don't link to any of Slicks writings on Youtube. Now that you've mentioned that it exists and told about his thoughts about the old stuff I guess a lot of people would like to read it. It's not that easy to find. While searching for it (I used google after searching on youtube) i found this: viewtopic.php?f=2&t=6744
At that time you didn't give an answer either. I can't see how it can be someting, you can only talk about on the zone but still something you wont send us a link for.
Best regards
Curt

It was my idea, and my voice. JD Brown ran the mic through a pitch shifter and recorded it onto 2-track. He later dubbed it in front of the tune.
