Tim is no longer in Stryper, for any reason, anytime. Has nothing to do with his wife's health from what I have heard/read. He and the boys didn't get along, and was quoted saying not so nice things about the "brothers". He didn't even like the music much, so he said. He is in Nashvegas with his wife pursuing other things.
Hey man...where are you getting your info as far as Tim and Stryper not getting along? I study Stryper like all of you here study Petra, and I have never read or heard anywhere that the reason he left the band was because they did not get along. Now, in the past, there were some issues, but they got worked out. He did indeed want to pursue other things and styles of music for sure. Please refer me to where you got your info. Thanks..

I forgot to mention that Stryper.com has posted a clip off of Stryper's new album from a song called "REBORN". It ROCKS!

honestly

I was honestly thinking the samething about Tim Gaines. I know this was not his style of music anymore, but also I know his wife has had a medical condition. When we went to see Stryper on the tour in 2003 Tim spoke a few minutes about his wife being ill and talked about faith in God in dealing with it. I feel it was a combination of the two, not that him and the 2 brothers were not getting along.

Tim made some disparaging remarks against the brothers. It was briefly out their own messageboard as well. Tim is quoted in an interview with Reign Radio that he didn't like the music anyway. He never had. He did it for the gig/money.

According to some studio/producer sources that we used for SUC, Tim wasn't happening for them stylistically, technically, etc. That's why Tim was in and out several times and Brad Cobb had actually played on most and/or if not all of the studio tracks on the next two.

Tim was in and out of the band. He would come back to go on the road. He didn't record much up until Against the Law. Michael brought in Brad and one other I think. Not sure about the second. Brad is listed with credits on one album, not on the others.

I do not know it all. I am an outsider. His wife's condition probably did play a part. And who knows? Maybe he needed time off, and that was the source of the bickering. Who knows? Who cares?

All I know is that I really thought that this baptist boy was going straight to hell the minute I shelled out my half of the yellow vinyl YABA, at Peaches Music, Tulsa, OK. When we got home, put it on the turntable (remember those you old farts?) I knew for sure my dad would beat me there. Them, Petra, Servant, Lamb, DeGarmo & Key, Whiteheart, Geoff Moore, and their predecessors changed my life.

i know

Post by executioner » Wed Apr 06, 2005 10:40 am

Yeah, I know he did very little recording on the albums, and Stryper always had studio musicians come in, but that and bickering with the others in the band had nothing to do with him leaving. He only wanted to do that one tour in 2003 and made a committment for that. Even Oz had said that him and Tim were only going to do the tour and that was it. All this was on their offical web site when they announced the tour back in the summer 2003. The rumors about bickering were on their message board and the Christian Metal Realm message board was solely done by fans or distractors, so they were and are at best rumors.

Exe does have a point there. We don't know how much of this stuff is true or not when we don't know all the circumstances. Rumors do have a way of getting started on message boards. We'd probably do well not to be too curious about what goes on between band members anyway, at least not to the point where we speculate about it on a message board. There are bound to be personality differences and different opinions with people working together, best just to let them deal with it.
