Actually your the one so out of place with this, because I and others have failed to see or find these horrible comments that you say you've seen. If you want to be saying something like this you need to bring the proof, not Jan or anyone else. You keep on putting words in people mouths and you continue to assume something that in reality isn't even there. This has been WAY overblown on your part.Preacherman777 wrote:Sorry, but it's not my job to do this. I've been here, I've been engaged with the forum and I know what I've seen. The comments have been there, whether you caught them or not. If you really want to know, do the searching yourself. Telling me I have to do it for you is just lazy. It's like trying to claim something on a tv show didn't happen just cuz you missed the episode or episodes where it happened. If you want to be engaged and informed, do your own homework.WHERE are the comments about Greg? Please quote them. I thought I read everything....but I am just not finding this.

Re: question on live recording...
Ok, so I'm delusional, but for some strange reason there's been quite a few other people who've noticed the same things I have and commented on them as well. It's also interesting that often times the same people who can never seem to notice these are comments, tend to be many of the same people who have been making them. You can try all you want to single me out as some wacko, but others have seen the evidence of things I've talked about and still others who've done these things have even apologized for doing them, but then of course, others have not.

Your the only one griping about it and you still choose not to bring any evidence, but here I will help you out with it a little.Preacherman777 wrote:Ok, so I'm delusional, but for some strange reason there's been quite a few other people who've noticed the same things I have and commented on them as well. Yes its true I feel that John is a better singer than Greg, and I also feel that Greg's voice is more suited for AC/pop then the rock that Petra is. Thats my opinion and I will stick with it and continue to let my opinion to be heard, but at the end of the day its just my opinion and thats all it is. If you disagree with it then by all means tell me, and we can continue to agree to disagree. I don't really care if you agree with me or not. My integrity and feelings won't be harmed by what you say or feel.

Ok, Ex, I disagree. Nothing against John as a person and wonderful man of God, but his voice is like nails on a blackboard as far as I'm concerned. I enjoyed the songs on BTTS and a few others like Dance and some of the Praise CDs because of the music, but certainly not for John's voice. Greg has a voice. John is just a yeller. Of course, that's just my opinion as well.

No, Preacherman, you're not delusional and the John fanboys who perpetuate the negitivity will never see it because they agree with each other and hide behind the "it's just my opinion" card.
When I came back to the Zone, pumped about CP and hoping to find other Petra fans who were excited about the reunion, new and revamped music, tour, ect. I found a few here but mostly it was a bunch of John groupies moaning about how ignored he must feel for not being the lead singer on the new tour. Their attitude totally deflated me. Many of those same groupies are still debating how John "feels" and how CP is wrecking Petra's legacy and arm chair quarterbacking how terrible the reunion is going so far. Anyway, I'm thick skinned enough, love Petra enough and I'm willing to spout off every once in a while about my preferences enough to keep coming back here. If I was just a CP fan looking to have a good time with other Petra fans I'd think twice about that and probably just stay home and/or visit the CP blog/Facebook/Twitter, etc.
It's *my opinion* that the John fans got used to everybody agreeing with them because they ran off all but a few of the other fans over the years. Now that CP is back and to such great support everywhere but here at the Zone, maybe some CP fans will start dropping by and bring a little balance with them. At least, one can hope.

Wow, Daniel, I'm trying not to be over sensitive but since you asked that ambiguous question directly after my last two posts are you speaking about wanting me to disappear? If so, just say so. I'll go back to lurking and you all can continue to play kissy kissy with John all you want.

Wow Daniel, did I really just see you offer to ban people for the sake of those who are tired of those of us who defend Classic Petra? Cuz that sure is what it sounded like. If you are gonna use your power that way, you may as well ban me too, because if that's the way it's gonna be around here, then the love and grace are gone from this place and I no longer want any part of it.

Re: question on live recording...
Wow Preacher, you honestly think I am going to sit back while there a personal attacks like "John fanboys" and "Kissy Kissy with John" is posted no I have been email by lurkers of the zone saying that I shouldn't put up with personal attacks, and I wont. Preacher since you continue to personally badger ppl, do you think it's fair that you get banned too?

Re: all the bickering
Wow...I joined this forum a few months ago as an avid fan of Petra, the band, whatever incarnation it appeared in (well, except for the self-titled incarnation...), hoping to interact with other like-minded individuals in celebrating one of the most storied bands in Christian music, heck, in any form of music, period. Instead, I find childish squabbling between the John-ites and Greg-ites (or classic-ites, however you want to term them). Now it's getting to the point that one camp in control is actively removing the 'others' from the forum to try to enforce a single mindset.
Were this a forum for fans of Van Halen, or Journey, or Guns n' Roses, I would expect this type of pitched battle between camps of fanboys for one singer or guitarist or bass player or drummer over the other...for fans of a Christian band, this behavior is simply shameful!
Petra has never been just a band...they've been a ministry taking on the form of a band to reach those for whom rock music could be a common language of discourse, thus opening otherwise-closed doors for presenting the Gospel to a lost and dying world. Along the way, Bob (and others) also saw fit to pen many songs directed at Christians, discussing many topics germane to believers - faith through adversity, resisting temptation and sin, witnessing to the lost, spiritual warfare through prayer, unity and harmony between believers, etc. Whichever singer or drummer or guitarist or keyboardist or bass player was used at the time to deliver that message receives my commendation for being a willing vessel at that time.
Quite frankly, if we listened to the lyrics of the band that this forum is devoted to, we would receive a stinging rebuke for our recent behavior.
This simply should not be, my brothers and sisters...it's time to act like mature believers and stop the petty bickering and squabbling.
Over and out.

AGREED!!!
Just tired of being the butt of names because I prefer John over Greg. I welcome someone that has a difference of opinion and respect them for that, but everytime it comes up I'm accused of bashing Greg and/or Classic Petra, when in reality all I've ever said is I prefer John over Greg.
