TBN Show DVD vs. Unseen Power Videos

Post by fcollazo » Mon Nov 22, 2010 5:40 pm

Weren't the Dance and I Need To Hear From You, Lip-Sinced videos? I remember being very upset that Petra never released a real live concert video with John when they were at their prime, when other bands of their time did. I think this TBN thing is no different. What you guys think?

Very different.... apples to oranges. You're comparing a concept video to a live performance video.

The management already stated that Greg used the tracks as something to fall back on and he rarely used them and will be overdubbing his vocals on the parts he used the tracks on.

This really isn't any different than what Southern Gospel Quartets and Family Groups do on stage. Artits like The Nelons and The Hoppers use what they call layerd tracks, these are vocals that are mixed at a level to where it provides support for their live vocals and gives a more fuller sound. It also provides for their studio reverb tracks to be present. There have been several times where someone would have a cold and can't belt it out like they normaly can so the tracks are there to save the day. It's very normal, and used a lot. I heard the Nelons layerd tracks during Sound Check at the Great Western Quartet Convention back in 2000 or 2001 I hung around after we got off stage with our sound check.

The first thing I can think of is that the Unseen Power videos used concert footage with the album audio. As Sue mentioned that is a concept video, not a live concert DVD. Someone had posted that much of the music was coming from the studio PA. and that the drums were not part of the mix.
