He's probably wise not to mess with those social sites.Jonathan wrote:Why not?executioner wrote:Nothing personal, but no thanks. No Twitter, Facebook, My space or any of the others for me.

Re: Petraspective on twitter
For me it's a good way to keep track of what I'm adding to the website and I figured other people might be interested as well. And you don't have to sign up for twitter to be able to read the tweets anyway (which is a very good thing).executioner wrote:Nothing personal, but no thanks. Same here, I can get updates on the musicians I follow, my industry, local events, software tutorials, what's going on with Petraspective, as well as market my own services. You name it.p-freak wrote:For me it's a good way to keep track of what I'm adding to the website and I figured other people might be interested as well. Sorry I didn't respond I just noticed you asked me a question.Jonathan wrote:Why not?executioner wrote:Nothing personal, but no thanks. No Twitter, Facebook, My space or any of the others for me.
I avoid these(especially Facebook) because of security reasons. Last year my parents opened an account on FB and within 2 weeks someone got a hold of their bank account thru their IP address a drained their account. The police traced it back to FB and told my dad they have more trouble with FB with hackers and fraud than any online site because their privacy and security regulations are weak at best.
I've noticed now that the NSA & FBI both have recommended users of FB & MS to discontinue usage. If you are one to use online banking to using your debit/credit card online and have a FB account you are just asking for trouble.

Re: Petraspective on twitter
Simply not having facebook or the other social sites is a perfectly fine alternative, but there are encryption programs and companies like LifeLock to help at least cut down on that. It's hard with all the technology to prevent all identity theft though. Anyone with a social security number and a bank account is at risk for identity theft. Technology makes the risk higher.

P-freak: what do we get from following your site? Do we get to have a copy of the bootleg concerts, cds and videos you have, like the way I shared mine in the past with everybody here, or is it just to drool admiring your collection? No offense intended, just thinking of a fun way of saying it.

Re: Petraspective on twitter
I've always played it safe when it came to online viewing; Very rarely do we buy or pay for anything online with a debit/credit card. When my father went to the police they were like the majority of the fraud complaints that they see have something to do with Face Book, My Space and other online chat systems. The reason why Face Book is the worst is because they are really laxed on their security. Playing it safe is the best way to go because eventually it will happen to you.Shell wrote:Simply not having facebook or the other social sites is a perfectly fine alternative, but there are encryption programs and companies like LifeLock to help at least cut down on that.
