I was there. I am just trying to understand how sound wise it would be different. Please explain.

lets just pray and wait and see if it has the live feel of CITAS, not jump the gun.

When CITAS was released JDB made a point that very little had to be done post production wise and what we heard sound wise was all live.
As we already know this was NOT a live concert but a taping for TBN TV, so I think it should be marketed as such.

I'll buy the DVD. That interests me even if the songs are in the same order as the CD and even if some parts are dubbed. However, I never buy CDs of live concerts if I can get the video. It's pointless IMO. I'd rather have the video anyday over a live CD and I certainly don't need both, unless they want to toss it in for free with the DVD.

I can't believe that Louie did not have a tech there, and that he did not have a second snare ready to go.

I have not spoken with anyone involved, only read the words of those involved. Fcollazo, even though there might have been sound coming from the stage, that does not mean that the sound was recorded. Bass goes direct without amplification via a DI (Direct Injection box that converts the impedance and balances the line with a transformer). They do not record at the soundboard at TBN. There is a splitter, so that all signals coming from the stage are split and mixed discretely for front of house, monitors, broadcast and recording. The word was that the only thing that would be recorded at the TBN show would be Greg's vocals. Everything else was tracks. There could have been DIFFERENT tracks recorded before hand for the show. The whole concept was to shoot a video, not record and film a live concert like was the case with CITAS.

There were some fixes with CITAS, but those were few, and the editing was for continuity. The double cassettes, CD, double LP, etc all have differences to accommodate their format requirements.

THIS DVD is different. Sure, there are some overdubs. But the bands tracks were not performed and recorded live at the taping. The band played over the tracks, which they heard in their In Ear Monitors (IEMs). Watch the videos. Listen to the keyboard parts, cymbal swells, backing vocals, multiple guitar tracks that are not being played live that are in the mix.

If I find out differently, I will post my findings.

I know what you mean Brent. Even though the Guitar Solo for BTTR was different, i was intrigued by the fact that Bob did not play the Solo breaks on TBTF. He just played the power chords over the pre-recorded solo, which to me was odd. I have followed closely Bob's equipment over the years since 1985, since I am a guitarist. I asked Bob on the meet and greet why he did not use his Egnater Head that I spotted on the far back part of the stage during the show. It was sitting over a generic 1X12 Speaker cab. Bob said to me he brought it just in case something went wrong with the recording. He said he used his Boss multi effects unit direct for convinience. I was not surprised by that because I saw him do that on several of the Farewell tour shows in Florida that I attended. I have to say that I am dissapointed by this practice since I am a Gear buff, and I love to learn how a Guitar player matches a great Tube amp with some analog stomp boxes to create some magic, but I understand Bob does not have the luxury of having a Guitar tech these days, nor roadies to carry tons of equipment. I still would settle for a small 50 watt, 1X12 combo at least fro real tone. I know some people believe on the Guitar Modeling craze, but I have never been convinced.

They had another snare for Louie, but y do not remember why it was brought in earlier.

I am that way now. I am a purist. I love GOOD gear. BUT, it has come to the point where gigs do not pay me to secure, use and have abused my good gear. That stuff stays home. It does not pay to bring out the real deal when I can have something that emulates it and still sounds good, but is a bit more disposable.

As musicians age, they tend to cart less. There are some top shelf guys doing gigs now with an amp sim on their iPad and good DI, and that is it. They are in and out.
