You guys might be able to scratch two backs at once. Petra needs press and chart status (radio would be better than internet, because people just don't listen to the internet as much as terrestrial and satellite). That site recently sent out desperate emails about their inability to cover monthly expenses. If 1000 people went, requested Petra and put $5 with that request, they would have a month covered and Petra would blow those charts.

It does not take much to affect those internet site charts folks. The average station has WAY less than one hundred listeners.

There was nothing negative there. I laid out how Petra fans could put Petra on top of those charts and ensure that the site stay afloat to play those charts for one month. They need about 5k a month to keep going. Petra fans would make a real impact, and that would be newsworthy.

As far as site traffic is concerned, there is no way to conceal the truth. You and industry people have access to reporting sites that tell how much traffic and money is generated by any site. If a band is getting great reviews, but the site has two viewers, that does not hold as much cred as CCM, HM, CMS, etc, etc, etc. If a site only has 100 listeners on average, you have the information necessary to dominate the site.

This is all positive...maybe except for the fact that less than 100 people listen. But, there are some terrestrial radio stations that would love to have those numbers. In the old days, when there were less choices, it was easier to get exposure to more people with less frequency and cash. Now there are more places for people to read, listen, watch, etc, and so the market is fragmented.

Here is something newsworthy, there weren't that many artists that sold more than 10,000 copies of CDs last year. The median for big sellers was 40k units. So, every artist, every website, every station has less market share than what they had two years ago. The flip side is, there is now a diminishing ROI for large budget productions. This will force everyone to get more competitive and possibly provide better music for the money.

The days of bands being huge are over. These are the days of being lean and mean, grassroots, and cutting edge. This gives Petra a chance to survive. They have good brains behind them. They have some connections. ==Sorry if you see this as negative. It isn't.

http://www.christianrock.net has over 24,000 fans on their Facebook. :)

I emailed Bryan of ChristianRock.net to ask him approx. how many listeners he has and this was his reply:

Thanks for writing. We have a lot more listeners than 100. I do not know a total, but during the day, on weekdays, we average between 400 and 500 simultaneous listeners on ChristianRock.Net. I'm sure that equates to several thousand per day if you factor in average listening time.

Also, we added 3 tracks from Classic Petra to ChristianPowerPraise.Net tonight including Too Big To Fail.

Thanks & God bless!

Like I said the AVERAGE is about a hundred. Remember ReignRadio? LESS than one hundred toward the end. Is RR still around? No. Even at 500 listeners (and there IS a way for them to tell how many people listen and when, it just requires some coding) that is a manageable number to influence. Surely there are 500 Petra fans out there that would vote/request and make a difference.

"Fans" and "Likes" do not necessarily reflect active simultaneous listeners either. BTW, there are several tactics used to general likes, fans and plays on social networks. In fact, I am part of a study right now that has proven how to generate 4,000 facebook likes in one week. I may pass this info on to the powers that be. In advertising, a 10% return is highly successful. 4k a week would possibly be 400 buyers a week.

I know that there is something else in the works, but I wish facebook would network with some legal music hosting service that users could post links to on their walls. If someone visits, they could hear what you like. If everyone that is a friend or likes Petra could do this, there would be some serious advertising going on.

BTW, what are your impressions of Petra's webstore? Do you guys like the process and the webstore navigation?
