I have a whole bunch of negatives from that night somewhere. I will scan them in and share them once I find time to get to it someday. One mroe thing to do... =)

Oh, and I ordered the video ( http://www.petrafiles.com/petraspective ... 01VHS.html ) from the newsletter and got the free t-shirt that came with it. I sold the shirt and a poster I bought at the concert on eBay when time were rough years ago. I wonder if someone here bought them from me. I still have the video though.

Someone posted a fuzzy version of the contents of that video here:

And while I am yammering, I also have a never published youth ministry video Greg Made sometime in the early 90's (guessing here) and an unpublished CD from the mid 2000's that had a remake of a Petra song (I cannot remeber which one) somewhere. More to dig out and share someday.
Oh man that video is soo goofy, but it sure sure shows of Greg's vocals.. I love the high at the end of the last long.

I remember when the record dropped, I was working at KXOJ in Tulsa. I was listening to that, and then listening to the Back To The Street....I shook my head and thought they both had made huge mistakes. But, The River Is Rising has some good tunes on it. Livin' For The Bell sounded to me like Petra could have done that one. It was really evident as to who did what, and it was evident that they all needed each other. Glad it all came back around for them.

Reading that 1986 bio I was surprised to see the name Kirk Henderson. It mentions that he was in a band in the early 80s called "The Edge". That band was a four-piece band, the other members being Ty Tabor, Doug Pinnick and Jerry Gaskill. That band (after Kirk) would go on to become King's X.

Doug P filled in for Mark Kelly, played behind Phil Keaggy some, etc. Kings X once had a Christian following and some Christian undertones but never claimed to be a Christian band. They were offended by the title later. Funny, I seem to recall the rep calling the radio station for plays and rotation info. The record company didn't seem to mind Christian stations supporting it. Same goes for U2.

Interesting...I never knew the band had a name! Did they also play on Come Out Fighting or No Room In the Middle?

Pieces Of Eight only acted as a live band. They never recorded any Volz albums as a band. Only Kirk Henderson did some recording on the first four GXV solo albums and then made another appearance at God Only Knows (2009).

The River Is Rising was created by Carl Marsh, Jimmy Lee Sloas (who would be in the late 80s, early 90s backup band The Ministers) and Kirk Henderson, with of course JDB and GXV. I doubt JLS and KH were more than just studio musicians. And then there were some guest solos by John Lawry and Phil Keaggy.

Jimmy Lee would then was in the post Paul Smith Imperials group for a while....of course he has played on a crap load of Christian records in the studio, even joined Megadeth for a short while, has played a bunch of country with heavy hitters....he is a top shelf talent.
