Daniel Band
Okay, the White Heart thread got me thinking about my favorite Christian Groups from the 80s, and Daniel Band was right up there. As a kid I hung out in the Christian bookstore listening to demos regularly. One day the sales guy was like "Hey, you gotta check these guys out!". I was hooked! Put it on my Christmas list and got it, and got every album they put out subsequently. Even my non-Christian friends enjoyed listening to them!
In college, my sophmore roommate was a big Daniel Band fan, too. It was often heard emanating from our room at high volumes!!
Like a lot of these groups, their sound really developed with each subsequent album, but they were all great! I've been excited to see some re-released recently, as my collection is all on cassette...and a couple of those cassettes won't play anymore! I hope they'll continue to re-release the rest of their catalog.
Any other Daniel Band fans out there?

Re: Daniel Band
I picked up one of their tapes, after listening to the demo. The name of it escapes me, but I thought the opening song was cool. I put it away and revisited it a year. That's when I discovered My Children and Right Heart. Awesome stuff. I listened to those songs non stop on a trip to Carribbean. They still take me back there.

Re: Daniel Band
I think I have a song of theirs on an old sampler CD. Somehow I've never heard much of their stuff, though I've heard of them; they were one of the first-ever Christian metal bands.

Re: Daniel Band
Yeah, most of the Christian metal groups owe a lot to the Daniel Band...they are often considered an under-rated band that paved the way for those who followed!
For me, however, many of the metal bands that followed were not my style...too many of them were neo-classical metal, which never appealed to me. There were a couple though...Guardian was great and Holy Soldier was pretty good.
The Daniel Band's first three albums, with some rough demos of songs that appeared on later albums, are available on iTunes...pull them up and check them out if you're not that familiar with them.

Re: Daniel Band
I first heard Daniel Band on one of those Arrival/K-Tel sampler tapes...Righteous Metal, or Testify; don't recall right off which. I liked what I heard, but didn't really pursue more of their stuff, until one day, probably about 12 or 13 years ago now, when I came across a HUGE stash of Christian vinyl in a thrift store at a buck a pop. I actually waited there while Mom got there with my checkbook so I could buy probably 50 records that day. Among them were 3 DB records: On Rock, Run from the Darkness, and Straight Ahead. I later found Running Out of Time at a garage sale.
Great stuff. "You Don't Need the Blues" is a regular player on my iPod...love the sample from "Rejoice in the Lord Always."

Re: Daniel Band
I liked their rhythm guitar sound; had a lot of crunch to it.
