I think the cost of CP rules that out. Plus its not going to draw people.

Preach it Preacherman!
I don't really see anything going on with this, that I can't already get from the internet. Just having John headline isn't enough to get me wanting to go. I'll just wait for it to show up on youtube.

Are you saying Classic Petra won't draw, or that John could out draw Classic Petra. And NO I really wouldn't go, I am not a drooling John Schlitt fan like most people on here.

It's a convention for Petheads to meet up trade stuff, share stories, not a stadium concert.
As for drooling Schlitt fans.. the correct term is "Schlitthead" and proud.

Oh hey, I know what you guys could do! Work with Sue on getting some more of those, "Schlitt Happens" shirts printed. I was telling John the other day that I really wanted one, and he said, "Yeah we should get some of those done up... I thought they were pretty cool myself..."

My Bad! Let me make it clear, I don't dislike like John, I just don't follow him as close as "Schlittheads" do. Why not just call it what it really is a Schlitthead convention, because that is all it is going to be any way.

I never go anywhere but if I can get brave enough to get on a plane, I might go to this! Sounds like fun! Either way, I want a T-shirt for sure.

Shawn... you have no idea what it's going to be, so no need to start the negativity and name-calling right off the bat.
That being said...
Rob is planning a CONVENTION, as Daniel said. Has anyone ever BEEN to a fan convention? Performances and appearances are the icing on the cake. The MAIN gist of conventions are for fans/followers to hang out, look at displays, bring their own memorabilia, trade and swap merch, stories, stuff, and - in the case of the ever famous Star Trek Trekkies - dress in costume!
It would be GREAT to have all kinds of Petra band members there, but let's be real. Does anyone here have the MONEY to pay their expenses to get them there? I'll guarantee you that Leonard Nimoy is not coming to Chicago this weekend for free! http://creationent.com/calendar.htm
Rob is planning to do something similar (minus the costumes!) with his convention. And yes, John will be the icing BECAUSE that is who Rob chose.... he was John's promoter last year, and would like to bring him back again. If anyone else would like to take this on and pay for any other members to attend - hey, more power to ya!
Conventions are for fans. Fans will be invited to bring whatever they have collected over the years to display, vendors of any sort can buy booth space and sell merch - heck, maybe we could even have Petheads who are musical themselves perform. The possibilities are endless when you hold the convention in an actual hotel-CONVENTION CENTER.
This could turn into something very cool, very fun and very worthwhile!
We've had two events that have been dubbed "Pethead Conventions" over the years... they were Schlitt concerts held in my hometown, sponsored by me, basically. But they weren't really conventions.... they were a bunch of people from the Zone who got together, hung out, slept on my couches, had fun and made some really great memories.
THAT is what it's all about.
That, and the Schlitt Happens tshirts, naturally.

I was thinking Ronny would be cool to meet, even John Slick?
Maybe even the original members of Petra would like to go? GHF?

Just to add to what Sue said, Rob is a really nice guy... and is putting a lot of work into this convention, when I met Rob last month he was so excited about this thing. With all the other stuff that he has going on in his life, you gotta love this guy.
So Preacher, Shawn get involved it's going to be an awesome weekend!

Re: Petheads in Indianapolis!
Classic Petra is about revitalizing the past and moving Petra foward into the future. That is something that a "Shlitthead convention" will never be able to do. I'm sorry I didn't know that Pethead was only applicable to the John Schlitt Petra fans. I guess I'm not a Pethead. I'm a Petra fan. That includes everything that Petra ever was and is."Rehash the past.." by having John there and not Classic Petra - is that what you're saying? Preacherman, are you SERIOUS??? What do you think Classic Petra is????

Re: Petheads in Indianapolis!
Preacherman, if you're confused you can find the definition of a PETHEAD here:
petheads.html
This is truly how it started, because I was there (and I wrote the piece for all posterity).

PETHEAD
The name PETHEAD was born February 25, 2000, by Nancy Kucharski of Indiana.
She had traveled to Streator, IL to see John Schlitt in concert and, like most fans, was talking with John after the show. John told her that he was rather shocked that she would travel such a long distance just to see him perform.
Nancy replied "Well, it's sort of like being a Deadhead" (fans of the Grateful Dead, who are famous for traveling hundreds of miles in rickety old vans to attend a concert.). John's reaction was classic - he laughed and laughed and thought it was the SO appropriate!
"Petra fans are sort of like Deadheads - they will travel hundreds of miles for a Schlitt or Petra concert, so instead of being Deadheads, we'll call ourselves PETHEADS!"
The next day he was scheduled to play in Sheboygan, WI. Nancy relayed the story to Sue Dempster, who in turn joked with John about it while in town that day. John was highly amused, saying that it was a very clever play on words and most appropriate for crazy Petra fans!
In the days to come, the story was posted on the chat board CCMusic.org, the fore-runner of The Petra Zone. Internet fans started using the term to describe themselves, and John himself picked it up, coining the term and asking fans at concerts "Are you one of those crazy Petheads?"
In time, the whole band came to use the term to describe their fans, and a year or so later when "Revival" was released, the first printing of the word PETHEAD appeared in the media.
Today, PETHEADS are found on every continent and are known throughout the world for their dedication and support of Petra - but more importantly - they are known for their love of Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior and the amazing way He has used Petra to accomplish His purpose.

Re: Petheads in Indianapolis!
OK... with all that being said - let's go back to the original subject and talk about a few more things for the Convention.
1. How would you feel about being able to PERFORM with your group, your self, or whatever during the day? would anyone be interested in doing that.
2. Would anyone want to set up a MERCH table and sell whatever? (does not have to be Petra-related)
3. Who has memorabilia that they would like to bring and display?
