Re: "Journey Trough Time and Space: The Petra Story"
Averaging 2-3 dates a month if that over a years time is not a sustainable or true tour. They need something along the lines of a 50+ date tour over a 2-3 month time frame to make this thing money and very successful.
Hopefully getting a true record label backing with true management and booking agent will spur the interest. I've been told in order to get these dates that are coming up they basically had to cave to promoters lower demand cost just to get these dates. The demand for them is not where management thought it would be.

Like they say exe, you have to milk the cow while it is fresh. The US should have been the start of the tour not the end.

They tried it at the beginning but the market wasn't there and too be honest it may never be here for them in the United States.Daniel wrote:Like they say exe, you have to milk the cow while it is fresh. The US should have been the start of the tour not the end.

They can fill an auditorium overseas. They have trouble filling a church basement in the US.Daniel wrote:Like they say exe, you have to milk the cow while it is fresh. The US should have been the start of the tour not the end.

Having overseas experience we seem to love artists from the 80's. I am not sure why the U.S has all but forgotten Classic Petra? I mean More power to ya, has got to be one of the best songs of all time.Mountain Man wrote:They can fill an auditorium overseas. I have a few thoughts about this topic, but why beat the dead horse.

Re: "Journey Trough Time and Space: The Petra Story"
I noticed this on the Petra "Farewell" tour.
Overseas, they pack in arenas. Here, in the final US date before going overseas (I think there was a NYE thing back in America that was the "last" date of the tour), they were in a small college sports arena. This was also one of the two "reunion" shows on the Farewell tour; GHF opened and then did a reunion set with Bob, before Farewell Petra closed the show.
I hung near the back because I was videotaping, but when my battery quit halfway through the "reunion" set, I popped up front and was near the fourth row. There were plenty of seats; an awfully small crowd for such a great band.

Re: "Journey Trough Time and Space: The Petra Story"
While all that may be true......of course there have been plenty of books written about other bands eg Kizz Van Halen .....and mostly the fans know their histories inside and out..but guess what? They still buy them....hey I am sure Petra fans would buy a cool looking coffee table book of Petra....take the latest Stryper one for example....yes it cost money and blah de blah blah.....hey cut cost make it an e-book!brent wrote:Why do a book? What is left to tell? Everyone knows the story, because Bob and the boys have been tellin' it for decades. I think that unless messy minutia is divulged, there really isn't anything more a book can add. Then there is the big question: Who is going to buy it and how are they going to know about it? If Petra is having a hard time being seen themselves right now, how will a book about the band that is having a hard time getting gigs going to get sold? Would you not want the people to give money to the band directly? Just a thought.

It will be a good read for about 50 people then. My point is, if the band can't sell music and videos to fans, then the book will not be in demand. If enough people emailed Bob for a book, he would have done it by now.

A coffee-table style Petra book? Count me in! Actually, any type of Petra book? Count me in!
