Re: CP Dallas concert cancelled
Zman, it is both ministry and commerce, but with the way things are at the moment commerce is unfortunately a driver in all decisions... There are bills to be paid I don’t like talking harsh about Christian music business but I am a business man and the idea of it being a ministry means commerce (and there is nothing wrong with this imo.)
Both Brent and I have written proposals to Bob in the past with the up most respect to him outlining for a mega reunion, we both never heard back, but we respect that as fans we really have no right to give advice to Bob because we are nobody’s. However, there were some really cool ideas that would have no doubt (excuse the pun) brought fans out of the woods for a few huge mega concerts.
Facebook is a great media for getting stuff out there, but it is nothing compare to the power of search engine traffic. Last month searches made for the term “Classic Petra” were 4,400 globally 2400 of which was US based traffic, which is great… and CP website has the first result on Google. However, when people load the slow website, with its flash interface most will lose patience. Americans don’t like to wait anymore than half a second. Mobile and iPad users won’t see the page as flash is history as far as Apple and mobile devices are concerned. What I am getting at is there is going to be a high bounce rate. Clicks that don’t follow through. I am well aware that flash is used on many websites still, and this is fine if you have a server that can handle a high data rate or has a visual interface catch in HTML5 for modern computers. These are all promotion issues that were never fixed.
I forgot what I was saying, anyway a kickstarter Petra mega concert could work, but everyone needs to be onboard including Petra, CP, GHF and the highly sought-after Dream Team. I think we could nearly call it the Mega team lineup.. Meaning anyone who will get on board period.
It would have to be 100K+ kickstarter realistically. make that $200K+

Maybe.
It is ALL commerce. I don't care what anyone says. It's ok with me. Some people do not want to accept it. They do not want to ask themselves why money is involved. The ministry doesn't happen unless the money is there to cover it. People do not buy tickets? No show. People do not buy CDs? No more are made. No money? No music.

Where did this info come from? It has been suggested on the blog that there is a record company that had money to invest in them, but yet now it's also been said that the record company did not put up any money to promote the concerts, so I'm wondering what is the real story. If ANR is an old deal, then what record company was CP considering signing with as stated recently when Michael resigned? This is the deal, the ANR thing is not what we where hoping for they have a contract but it’s distribution only. This replaces Sony as the distributor. ANR is not putting cash up! There you have it.

this is the problem that I and others have had from the start with CP, one day its this the next day its something else. IMO if its like this isn't it better to lay low?Preacherman777 wrote:Where did this info come from? They really needed to sink some serious money into marketing, but it almost sounds like they're hoping to fill concert venues by word of mouth, which isn't going to work for them at this point.executioner wrote:Yeah they sold just over 300 as of Monday for the Dallas show and promoter gave them the option to back out and they did; which you can't blame them.
They did have an ad in The Dallas Morning News last Friday in the concert section of the entertainment guide.

OK, so since the show got cancelled last night, I watched CITAS DVD and BTTR blu-ray and cranked up my sound system. Looked good on my 55" TV, but still wish I could have seen them live.
But, hey, at least I got to "see" Petra last night! I admit it - I don't have a life.

Maybe we all assumed that ANR was the deal that the blog was talking about. My source has said somebody is onboard with them via management, booking, and record deal but also in the same conversation I was told not expect to hear anything from them for awhile.Preacherman777 wrote:Where did this info come from? On the promoter and marketing side the promoter was told management would have some ads in place for all the Texas shows, but they failed to materialized so he started putting ads out there when he saw they didn't show anything. I asked him isn't that up to the promoter anyways and his response was yes but he was told that management said that ads were being handled and had to go directly through them. Too me this sounds backwards doesn't?

Re: CP Dallas concert cancelled
Maybe CP will be cancelling the show in Norway too, next year, since the stage is so small...?
The stage at Sommergospel at Karmoy, Norway must be one of the smallest stages I have ever seen...
http://www.sommergospel.no/images/phoca ... -09_79.jpg
And CP will for sure perform at this stage if they decide to come....
It's on an island with heavy wind and very low temperature....outside Stavanger City.

if they bite during the concert, does that mean they don't like the music?

I have this theory that most moose are secretly Petra fans. I know the ones in Newfoundland sure love John! One got so excited that he blocked traffic to get his first glimpse of John arriving from the airport...
