The Beatles have one website for all things The Beatles and it gets hits from all over the world every day, and they are not together, two are dead and the other two don't perform together. What I was saying is Bob should take Petraband.com make the official website for all things Petra, Merchandise, Classic Petra etc.... One official website that everyone knows dosn't change remains the Petra Site until the Lord comes back. Instead of having PetraBand.com, ClassicPetra.com and Petraproductionsinc.com and everyone has to go to all three for different reasons.brent wrote:it does not take long for a webmaster to update the site. Bob could find people to do that. There could be a million reasons why it is not updated. I cannot believe people even care about that site, since that band is not actively recording, touring, etc. There have always been better and more relevant sites by fans. There is more info out there by third parties now for sure. Why re-invent the wheel? They can funnel news through Sue and she can cover more people by posting on this site than on petraband.com. They can post news in key places (although I do not know why they do not) that are repeated around the world within a week. I suppose if Bob gets hit with enough emails, he will update the site, post links to and from the CP site, and ask some of the stud site guys around here to help with content. Until then, we can assume he does not feel it necessary.

Re: ClassicPetra.Com In Transition
I haven't bought concert/sports tickets at face value probably since the Farewell Tour. I get my tickets in places like Craigslist, EBay, Stubhub, newspaper, and sometimes Amazon. I just get the serial number off of the ticket to validate or scan them with my phone. I bought 2 U2 tickets from the latest tour for $35 each a day before the show. I will never again pay full price on anything like tickets.

Re: ClassicPetra.Com In Transition
There is some good reason why Bob does not do one site for all. It is none of our business. I suspect it has something to do with his focus and likely some business agreements.
The Petra site would get no more hits than boards like this, the Classic Petra and record label (cough) sites get combined. There are already better sites in existence than Petra has ever had, with the same news, and sometime more in-depth information, partly because Sue is on them. While it sounds like a nice idea, business people have to look at the time, resources and future and ask "Is this really going to benefit us?" They can look at who hits the site and determine if the people going to the international shows can really be reached by the site. If the same old info is out there, why repeat it and have to pay for it?
The Beatles site is by Apple Corp, to sell Apple Corp product. It drives sales. It is not maintained by Paul and Ringo. What does Petra have to sell that it isn't selling already around the world on iTunes and Amazon? Personally, I know websites themselves are about over and do not really have the impact to steer like they once had. Multimedia interaction is where things are now. It is better to position media where the masses go and might find artists accidentally, or as a result of searching for a known artist. If the world had as many Petra fans as what people think they have, then Petra would still be on the road and recording. The facts are, the band is having a hard time, because it is the music of a generation past, that does not buy much, if at all. This is why Bob had a hard time selling DVDs and CDs and has inventory in his garage. The artist has to put a cost to all of the work, itemize it, and then judge whether it is worth the gamble of trying to get it back.
Sometimes keeping things separate is better.,,,for both bands.
Again, it is a neat idea, but I would not hold my breath.

Re: ClassicPetra.Com In Transition
Even though the Classicpetra.com is in transition, it needs some keyword rich content on the front page. Google may penalize results.. I have seen this happen from time to time. Can someone pass this on to management.

it now appears that classicpetra site is no longer merely "in transition" but is completely out of commission?!
I get nothing when I link to it.

I'm sure the label and manager they seem to now have is revamping everything, which is a good thing don't you think?

I wonder if it is even practical to try and purchase an item from the old store link? My gut says no.

It does look like they left the store up and running; I've bought a few things and have gotten them in a timely manner.

Re: ClassicPetra.Com In Transition
Ok, ClassicPetra.com is back up however, I guess the only Transition was maybe a server change. The look and feel of the site is still the same.....hmmm
