I wouldn't go THAT far... since the song was written by Dan & John, I can almost guarantee that John hasn't heard "Burn it to the Ground." Dan perhaps, but not John.
BriGuy - you just go ahead & listen and consider it a SCHLITT song -- forget about Nickelback..

They may not know they've heard it, but it's a hard song to avoid. I don't think they did anything malicious or anything like that. It's often played at sporting events or in movies so they may have heard it passively and retained it in their subconscious somewhere, and it released itself during a songwriting session. Regardless, the verses of those songs are very similar.
Luckily, it's unlikely that Chad Kroeger will ever hear TGC. But I have heard of lawsuits regarding songs that were less similar than these two.
And as for your advice to forget about Nickelback: gladly!

I'm pretty new to Twitter so I only have 17 followers. Perhaps Facebook would be more effective for me.
Oh and please don't misunderstand based on my other comments, I really like the album. So far I see my favorite being Take Me Home.

Triumph!!!! I LOVED them! Haven't thought about them in a long time. Probably my favorite early 80's band.

Which all makes me kinda conflicted. I hate Nickelback, but like John Schlitt. Now I've got a John Schlitt song that sounds like Nickelback. What am I to do?
I see your point, but I don't think it's that simelar that you have to worry about a law suit

I think the "seen and not heard vs. the ???? song by Kiss is more similar. But I agree totally. Nickelback sucks, and you don't want a Schlitt song to sound too much like them haha

"Heaven's on Fire." A particularly unfortunate title if you're going to rip off a song (inadvertently or not).

I too am very partial to this song. I think right now I like Faith and Freedom just a little more, but that could change over time. There is something about Hope That Saves the World really stands out for me. It's the one I find myself most likely to sing along to.

Any of you TGC crew have some good artwork to attach to this album? Just wondering. Just converted to MP3 and wishing it came with artwork. Love the overall sound of this album. WTG John

So I made myself a mix CD where I edited out the two songs that don't do much for me and added in the two song that I like from The Grafting. I also reordered the tracks to an order I like better. Here's what I came up with.
Faith and Freedom
Hope That Saves the Word
Run
The Gift
The Cross Remains
Live it Loud
Take Me Home
One of These Days
Where I Wanna Be
The Grafting
Only Men

The 2 I would do away with are "End of Fear" and "Where I Want To Be"; other than those I think the other 9 are some of John's best work.

I haven't had a chance to hear it, as I can't download anything else on my laptop ( I'll just wait more or less patiently for the CD) but you guys are making me eager to hear it!
(Of course, it's John Schlitt, so in my opinion there can't be anything bad about it... yes, I am WAY biased, lol)

CREW MEMBERS: LOOKING FOR OPINIONS! (yes, I know - everyone has 'em!)
If you were to pick one song from "The Greater Cause" for ROCK RADIO which one would it be?
