Unless they retrack the drums with louie and remix it, I am not interested.

The buzzword "remastered" really isn't worth getting excited about until we know the details because it's one of those terms that can really mean anything.

I'd really like to see it remixed ala The Foreigner remix. They used the master tapes from their greatest hits and they sound fantastic.

The Beatles remasters were a waste of time. No improvement at all. Only the 1 album, and Yellow Submarine albums that were remixed and remastered a while back were worth a listen.

Matthew I am thinking of getting TMW, but there would have to be some major sound difference. I have TMW on CD, I was under the impression that it came out in 87' same time as LP?

Hope they don't remaster it into a pop/dance mix, lol. I like pop too, but messing with classics?? C'mon, that's just wrong...

"Pethead" is not a title. It's a way of life.

They stripped off the verb and other things that dated the songs too. That double album does sound good.

Matthew RJ wrote:I'm also curious about "Remastered" and what that means.
It can mean anything, from simply transferring existing recordings from one format to another, to painstakingly reconstructing material from original elements. The former usually doesn't look or sound dramatically better than the original recordings while the latter can lead to substantial improvements. The question is, just how much effort do you think EMI is going to put into these reissues?

Well if the mix is changed in any way it would be remixing not remastering.

The remastering process does sometimes involve remixing, but it'll still say "Remastered" on the cover.

Let's put it this way: not all remasters are created equal.

In most cases there is some remixing included in the remastering process.

It would seem that true remixing, not adding a techno beat, is more rare than remastering since you need the original tracks to remix.
