My dog
My darn Dog has been taking dark green colored dumps in the house, it's driving me made... well it is my wife's dog.. but some how because I am the man, I have to clean it up. Yesterday the dump was 5 meters long and sprayed all up the wall. I feel like the dog is targeting me too, it as always watching me.
I had to get that off my chest thanks for listening.

Re: My dog
This is why we don't have pets; I get stuck cleaning up after them, feeding them and don't even get me started about vet bills. My sister and hubby have 2 full size dogs and she was telling me they spend about 2k per year on vet bills and go through a $25 bag of dog food a week. That is really STUPID!!!!!

Re: My dog
Why is being a responsible pet owner stupid? If you do not value pets it still doesn't make what your sister is doing stupid.

Re: My dog
This was my chuckle for the day...Being a pet owner has its good and bad points.
My take is the owner of the pet should be taking care of it.
I had a Jack Russell that was originally my oldest nephew's but they moved to an apartment where they didn't allow pets and couldn't take her, so she ended up being mine sort of by default. I got attached to the little beast (or four-legged human, take your pick, she was spoiled). I had to have her put to sleep a few months ago, she had tumors or something and was starting to have a hard time getting around. I hated to do it, but I didn't have a fortune to spend on vet bills which wouldn't have guaranteed anything anyway. She was an old dog and I didn't want her to suffer.
Pets won't be for everyone. Vets are as expensive or more so than medical doctors and it is expensive to feed them and it can be a pain to clean up after them. But if you can deal with that, great, go for it.

Like Shell said its not for everyone, I personally think its stupid for anyone to pay all that money, but thats me. If its for you than by all means go for it.

Re: My dog
A $25 bag of dog food lasts several months for our dog. But you are a bit locked to have a dog. He has to go out for walks three times a day because we live in a flat... It's my wife's dog but I'm doing 95% of the walking...executioner wrote:a $25 bag of dog food a week. That is really STUPID!!!!!

Re: My dog
That's possible, but it's also a very hyper little terrier--They have what is known as "small dog syndrome".brent wrote:Wasn't Jack Russell a golfer?

Probably the #1 reason why I do not own any pets; I would be doing all the hassel, up keep, and work to keep them they way they need to be.

Re: My dog
Actually Jack Russell was an English Reverend who enjoyed hunting, so he developed this small, leggy terrier that could keep up with a horse, burrow into a game tunnel, and was small enough to carry on his saddle when necessary. Same roots as the Parson Russell Terrier, really the same breed but with enough slight differences to be called a separate breed.brent wrote:Wasn't Jack Russell a golfer?

Re: My dog
I do remember reading that they were originally bred for hunting and burrowing, but I didn't remember where that originally happened or the profession of the person who bred them. That makes sense, she sure did like to go after the squirrels and other critters. She got sprayed by a skunk once, that was an experience.
She even cornered a raccoon that was a lot bigger than she was once and held her own because she was so quick.

Re: My dog
I have a Jack Russell mix. I got her at a shelter so they don't know what the mix is; but she is small - 17 lbs. so maybe a Chihuahua or small terrier. They are so smart! A great dog - playful but not too hyper. She chases squirrels, ducks, cats, anything ... she WOULD love to go after raccoons too, but I'm a protective momma and won't let her.
