Dream team live concert video album
Re: Dream team live concert video album
Well I heard them live too, and I also got impressed by it. But that does not necessarily mean that it would be as impressive if you heard a recorded version of it. In a live situation there's a lot of things going on and it's hard to focus on details, and the show and the energy just keeps everything going. So the fact that it sounded good doesn't mean a recorded version of it would be as impressive. I guess we've all had experiences of something that worked while we listened to it, while a recording of it just didn't really make the same impression. I'm not talking about a difference between good and bad in this case. I'm taking about the live thing being slightly inferior but to an extent that shows what tricks were used in the studio.

Re: Dream team live concert video album
Def Leppard finally got around to releasing a live album and it sounds great. Why does this matter? Well, they had some of the most produced albums in 80's rock. I'd have loved to see a dream team era live album.

1. Curt is a musician IIRC and makes a good point. What sounds good live in the audience does not always = a great recording for various reasons. When music is loud enough, and listeners are awestruck for whatever romantic or spiritual reason, our hearing is masked and our hearing masks. It has happened when I have been onstage doing my thing too. My monitor mix was so stink in hot, because the guitar players and drummer were deeeeaf, that I thought I was spot on, and the band thought we were tight. We weren't. It you could mix a live show and then go back to review with board tapes/CD/multitracks, you could understand. Things translate differently, and all of the booboos unheard live are captured on tape. Petra however was so overly processed and artificial (non-organic) sounding back then, it would not matter if they were recorded or not, IMO. Backing vocals would have been the only thing to recut.
2. I would love a blooper reel too.
3. Def Leppard..... Poor Joe has offered to stop singing, but the band will not have it. They have tuned down and a couple of the guys sing songs for him now. Guitar-wise, they are still the bomb. Love the music. BTW, did you guys see that they have re-recorded a couple of singles/hits and released them? Maybe someone should take a hint. hmmmmm?

Well it's going to be hard to know Brent unless somebody digs up some audio/video from that period.

There has got to be some professionally done stuff from that era out there.

I could try and upload some of it if there's any interest. Most of it already is on youtube.
I also got a few audience audio recordings, but those are not the best quality ever.

Yes, I have their whole catalogue (of course, I'm Canadian too). It's a very dark, distorted version of Adonai. As for fav albums, I've always preferred Bookaboom or Pick It Up.Matthew RJ wrote:Didn't their drummer get replaced by a monkey?
Do any of you know their cover of Adonai?

I don't know why there hasn't been a blooper reel for Petra! The Gaithers are famous for their bloopers, and even the newer bands (Anthem Lights comes to mind) have blooper videos. I would love to see that...

Re: Dream team live concert video album
I really don't know why the powers that be didn't strike while the iron was hot and produce a live album and concert video during the "Beyond Belief" tour. It would have been a top seller easily.
