A Question for all of us politically minded folks....

Here's a question for everyone to ponder. If you could have your choice between an America, the way it is, where liberals and conservatives must put up with each other in order to remain united as one America or an America where there is a Liberal/Progressive America to be governed as they see fit and Conservative America to be governed as they see fit, would you choose to have the choice between the two or would you choose to keep things as they are?

I would choose to keep things as they are. If you had one of each, this is what would happen. The liberals would wreck their America. Then they would migrate to the conservative America because it is better. However, they would fail to realize that it is better because it is conservative, and they would bring all their liberal ideas with them and proceed to wreck it. You would be left with two liberal Americas.
I'll stick with what we have and hope to swing it more conservative.
One observation that I've made in recent years is that it seems to be, especially at the state and local level, that voters will elect someone more liberal, for all the stuff and the pie in the sky promises, and then when it is all going to hell in a handbasket, they will, as much as it pains them to do so, elect someone more conservative to come in and clean up the mess. Once it's cleaned up, they elect someone more liberal and start the process all over again.
Just my opinion.

Well, but that's kind of the point of what I'm saying. It's not just about kicking out all the liberals to their own country, but rather reforming a conservative/libertarian America with a new constitution that would have safeguards in place to prevent liberals from doing what they did to the one we have. Basically, our freedoms and values would be much more protected than they are now.

The problem with America is, people think freedom means "do whatever you want without consequences." I wish we could have the founding fathers walk into congress and read these modern nuts the constitution, in the spirit it was written, with the back story, so these bone heads would quit taking things out of context.

I guarantee I can find someone more conservative than you. The founding fathers were pretty darn liberal for their time. Lincoln lost his life for being liberal. It's kind of hard to get behind the idea of a new constitution when the current one is just fine. You really need to learn to live with the liberals just as they have to live with you.

This is the problem with the US...the conservative -vs- liberal split. you really think a world without the evil liberals would make the US perfect? It's so polarized, on/off, either/or ...when reality is both parties stick and neither has the market on morality or truth, or justice or ...

This actually really isn't about the parties its about being a conservative or liberal. I'm fine with the liberals; the ones I tend to grieve over one the ones that claim to Christians but their true beliefs are sided with liberalism.

Right, what I'm talking about has nothing to do with parties. I think both parties are corrupt to some extent. I'm talking about conservative/libertarian type values which which promote Judeo Christian values and ethics, but with religious freedoms for everyone and which believes in a high level of personal freedom and personal responsibility with limited government vs. liberal/progressive values which promote a large and powerful central government with limited freedom, low personal responsibility and variable morals and ethics. The Constitution we have would be fine if had not been so horribly distorted and such lost so much of it's original intent and meaning. Therefore, I would like to see an America designed to protect and promote conservative/libertarian type ideas and values and also one designed to protect and promote liberal/progressive ideas and values and then we could see who prospers and who ends up begging the other one for help. I'm pretty sure I know how that would end up.
