if we're deabting superheros here and Spiderman has been thrown in the mix, I'd like to add a fourth: Larry Boy! Come on man, who else has super suction ears?

separateunion, i should have known you were a spiderman freak, you fit the image of Marvel fans.

While i will admit to liking the X-men and Spiderman myself, there is no doubt that DC can out do Marvel anyday, it's just that way man.

DC rules, Spiderman can't out do Superman, or Batman.....but i can say he can do a great job in his own right........i respect the web slinger, but Batman just has way to many more issues to deal with then that of the Marvel King.

And who could ever hit the man of steel without breaking their own hand and then finding themselves flying into a brick wall.

(shell, i'm glad you turned this topic around)

I wasn't really an X-Men fan until I saw Hugh Jackman as Wolverine in the movies... :D I like them now. Spiderman is pretty cool; the Spiderman movies (especially the second one) are the best superhero movies since the first Superman movie.

Anyone have any opinions about Daredevil or Hulk? Hulk was okay; it was kind of interesting watching the big green guy throw his temper tantrums. They could have done better with Daredevil, although it wasn't that bad for what it was. Of course, Ben Affleck isn't the world's greatest actor and that probably didn't help. I think Jennifer Garner did a good job. It can be tricky to make a comic book character into a good movie.

Thanks Shell but I just stole it from another site. hehehe

Ok, we've obviously got some people who just don't understand how so much has been stolen from Superman and Batman to make the other heroes.

1. Spiderman: I love Spiderman. I own both movies. Shell you are almost right. Spiderman was the best since Superman II which is the greatest superhero movie ever made followed by Supes I!! But the Spiderman movies 1 and 2 ripped off alot that was laid down in the first two Superman movies.
This was actually a news story on MTV.com

a. Scene where Peter Parker rips shirt open Clark Kent style to reveal Spider Suit. Ripoff
b. Spiderman II plot. (1)Superhero has settled into being hero. Loves woman but can't be with her cause she could end up hurt. Continues to go after woman without actually commiting. (2) Hero ends up giving up powers to be with woman he loves. (3) Woman decides she loves hero for who he is, hero realizes he is destined to be hero. (4) Identity is revealed to woman. There are others....

X-men has been great! I didn;t get to ge see 1 in the theaters cause Rachel just din't want to see it and I never went myself. We then rented it and she loved it! Got the 4 disk set.

Batman 1 and 2: Good movies. Liked 1 better than 2 but I have both on DVD. 3 was getting worse but I still liked it as I am one who likes the character of Robin. I actualy like Val Kilmer. Problem I had was Two-Face. That is not how the character is in the comics at all. He was portayed as Joker 2. The guy is very serious and takes his crimes very serious because he was the former DA. 4 was like someone just decided to fart out a Batman movie. It had it's monents but most were bad. George (I have no right to wear this outfit) Clooney played both Bruce and Batman the same way. BIIIIIIIIIIIIIIG mistake!!!! Star studded with Uma, and Arnie, and Alicia Silverstone, but diamonds in a pile of poop doesn't make it less poop. Just sparkly.

Hulk was a good laugh. I saw this with Andband before we left Sheboygan. I laughed so hard when Hulk started jumping and they made the shot stationary. It just watched as Hulk jumped into the distance lookig like a green flea! The scene where it shows Hulk in that room of Banner's mind looked like he was gonna say hello to the audience. I found myself laughing out loud at parts where I shouldn't be. Worse than Batman 4!!!!

this is where I'm gonna take some flack. I have never cared for Dare Devil at all. Some friends asked me to go to see it with them so I agreed. That movie rocked!!!!!!!!! I own it and we actually pull it out from time to time. I just liked the whole thing. Sorry. Electra the movie was too strange for me but I enjoyed on some level.

Yes I liked Supes 3! There was actually a cut of Supes 4 that if they had spent money on the effects would have made that the best one out of the series I've read. Too bad the studio cut the movie so bad that all the good stuff was actually destroyed.

Here's to Superheroes!!!!!!!

By the way DC rules Marvel any day of the week.

Plus if you really want to see a bad Superhero movie, get a bootleg copy of the Fantastic Four movie that was completely made but never released in the early nineties!! Horrible!!!!!! Plus the Captain America B-movie that was made. It made no sense!

Greatest American Hero also rules~~

HAHAHAHAHA. "Diamonds in a pile of poop..." That is a good one. I like George Clooney, but not as Batman. I kept thinking "he's Doug Ross from E.R." He plays the charmer who pulls the wool over your eyes well. He did a good job in "Ocean's 11" and a couple of other movies though. You're right about Harvey, he is very serious. I like Tommy Lee Jones though... I loved Tommy Lee Jones in "Men In Black."

Everyone has different taste. Dare Devil wasn't that bad, but I don't care for Ben Affleck. I didn't care for the last two Superman movies, but I watched them cuz I like Chris Reeve. The first two were much better. I got a kick out of Hulk jumping around all over the place too, it's amazing what they can do with computers.

Contrary to critics, I thought The Punisher was a great movie. John Travolta's acting was pretty bad, but I thought the rest of the movie was great!

Not Supe vs. Batty....Spidey vs. Batty...

Post by rbnewsdesk » Thu May 19, 2005 12:26 pm

...at least for me. While Superman is indeed stronger both morally and physically, I have difficulting relating with him in that he is that "perfect", and as such, it has been hard for D.C. to show his emotional flaws and angst (despite shows like "Lois and Clark" and "Smallville").

Why I gravitate towards both Spiderman and Batman is they want to do the right thing, but their troubled souls, uncertainties, conflicting desires (self vs. others), present actions dictated on past life experiences, and sometimes questionable means (especially Batman's persona) just continue to haunt them ... I can relate to that. I mean, Superman very rarely has a "I want to give up" experience in his stories, while Peter Parker and Bruce Wayne (at least the Dark Knight encarnation) has those thoughts everyday. But it is only my faith in the Lord and He giving me boldness to face those demons that I am able to get victory...much like how Spidey and Batman finally believe that they have the responsibility and the purpose to face evil and stop it.

And actually, maybe the movies play out my theory, or it is just my biased opinions...meaning while the first Superman movie was just ok in my book, the first Batman movie really captured the essense of the Dark Knight and I though it was the BEST EVER superhero movie, but that was before the first Spiderman movie came along and NAILED the whole Peter Parker/Spidey thing (thank Tobey McGuire's acting for that). I havent seen Spidey II yet but for me Spidey One is TOPS far and away.

Hey, let me add that there is the new Fantastic Four movie..

Post by rbnewsdesk » Thu May 19, 2005 12:35 pm

...that is coming out, and any movie that has Michael Chilkis playing "The Thing" has some potential to be a really good movie as well.

spiderman tribute to superman

Post by bleedinghero » Tue May 24, 2005 5:13 am

the spiderman scene where he rips off his shirt to reveal his suit is a homage to superman, not a rip off.

likewise the plot, well, just how many stories can hollywood tell anyway? there are about four basic plots available for them to toy with. i dont think spiderman's story was a rip off of a superman story. just resembled each other a bit.

the superman films, while awesome for their time, are dated. spiderman 1 is kinda dated too. spiderman 2, however, rises above the rest of the superhero films because it really explores human emotion and character. brilliant film. just my 2 cents.

ok ok ok

Post by bakersfieldpethead » Fri May 27, 2005 4:49 pm

You think that was a homage to Superman, what about the line when aunt may says to Peter "You're not Superman you know"

Ok Ok Ok, I think the next Batman should have had a deal where someone makes fun of him swinging with the Bat Rope and he says, "Not everyone can be a web slinger."

That would be cool.
