They are ones that have had their ups/downs, but I think now present day they following the Lord; I just wish they would put out better quality music than what they are now. I think most around here would be surprised at what really goes on; the Michael English thing a few years back is just the tip of the iceberg.

Thanks for the answer. So he did play some dates with Petra, but never as a possible member. I agree with the train wreck analysis, especially with the benefit of hindsight and seeing Doug today.

Mark took time off to be with his mother. When they came to Tulsa, he had just rejoined the band and they spoke about that. Mark's family was in Tulsa, but I don't know if the Tulsa show was THE first show back or not.

I saw Petra twice on NOTW tour, once with Slick and once with Lawry. Mark Kelly was not there for the Lawry show, and Doug was not the bass player that night; I'm not sure who it was because I don't remember them annoucing the members. I also went to the 2nd show not even knowing that Slick was no longer in the band.
I will say I've always been mixed with the who is better Slick/Lawry; I like Slick's soul and smoothness he had, but Lawry seems to add so much more depth to the songs live. They both added different styles to Petra, but the main thing is they always added and never subtracted.

Trying to stir the pot a little? I think I was pretty even in my assessment.

believe it or not 1 of the things that Bob brought that night to my attention what's the fact that both Doug Pinnick and Jerry Gaskill filled in for Petra around 1980. he said to me in form of a trivia question to see if I knew about it. it was fun speaking to Bob that night, he was very into the conversation all about Petra that night. then at the last concert in Jacksonville Florida, I was able to speak to him for about half an hour about guitars. he really is a guitar geek like me. I had a great time.

I heard once that John Schlitt bit the head off a live bat during the On Fire tour. But someone else said he didn't realize it was a live bat when some Pethead (possibly Doug Sands) threw it onstage.

I remember Doug Sands; I wonder where he could be?
