Cool, will be interesting to see how it sounds after playing more heavy rock with CP.

Yeah...definitely hoping for more of the heavy rock angle without a doubt. I'm cautiously optimistic.Daniel wrote:Cool, will be interesting to see how it sounds after playing more heavy rock with CP.

I doubt he does a real rock record. I think the last record is probably as rock as it gets for Greg. He is a modern Jesus music kind of guy. Remember, he has to be able to sing his songs in church services.

Yeah, I know. Your right. Still I keep hoping. "Too Big To Fail" kind of got my hopes up for where Greg could still go (even though that was a CP team effort). Still I've liked all of his solo work. "The River is Rising" and "Come Out Fighting" are my personal favorites. But "God Only Knows" surprised me in some ways and I do like it. I think its his third best solo work cohesively. There's definitely material I like off of "No Room In The Middle" and "The Exodus" but not as completely as those other three albums. And the rest of his solo work seemed to take place in some nether-world of his career and I have a hard time associating those albums with the rest of his work, though I know he was in a different place then too.
I have to admit I'm strangely curious about his Christmas album as I've never heard a single track off of it and there's no MP3 previews available in his online store or elsewhere that I've been able to find. Anybody heard anything off of it? Since John Schlitt is at work on Christmas album I might have to get me two of my favorite Petra vocalist's Christmas albums this year!

Too Big was written by Bob.
It would be nice if Greg would turn loose of the Sammy Hagar-esque tunes he had intended for secular release. He said that the guitar work was really good.

Re: New Volz EP
I'm sure I will be flamed for this, but just remember right or wrong its just one man's opinion. I've never felt like Greg did the rock songs very well; his voice is more tuned for pop and really never fit into the sound I think Petra was trying to accomplish. Too be frank and honest with you all I will go on to say that I think his voice took away from the rock generated songs that Petra did during his era. I've always felt like the softer to mid tempo songs that Petra did during his time were much stronger songs than the rock songs; the edge for these songs(which should have been there) were lost because of this.
