the minimum number at the prayer retreat is because I cannot do this without a lot of support from others. If I can't get a reasonable minimum to commit to something like that, how can I expect them to do everything else that will be required
Don't count on others to do the work... if you really feel that God is calling you to do this, then HE will give you the resources.

It IS possible for you to do this all yourself... I was basically a committee of ONE for years.... I did concert after concert all by myself, which included raising the funds, designing & printing the posters, renting equipment, organizing everything, etc., etc.

It's a ton of work and very exhausting, but it CAN be done - if God is in it.

(but please stay away from Dec. 29-31... I'm working on a show for John those days)

Don't worry, wouldn't be that late! Would have to be before the Brazil tour or after Argentina, the 18th or 19th. Only problem is, Fridays and Saturdays are by far the best dates, and I don't think that will work unless they hang out in Ecuador and/or Argentina or Brazil for most of a week. I'd certainly love to show them around for part of that time, if they're willing! :D

I brought it up in my department's Bible study/prayer meeting today. One of our Ecuadorian guys is a youth pastor, and he seemed quite excited about the idea, saying that it shouldn't be much trouble to sell 5k+ tickets. He says Petra is pretty well known here, which even I wasn't sure about!

What would be truly great is to get a concert in Guayaquil as well as Quito, to split the costs of the ticket back to the States. I think it could work there also if it works in Quito (Guayaquil is a bigger city, a port city, though not the capital), but I'm certainly not about to sponsor two concerts! Maybe I can get some contacts there though.

Would be even better if I could get another concert in a hub city (Lima, Peru; Santiago, Chile, Bogota, Colombia; or Panama City, Panama) between the Ecuador concert(s) and Brazil. That could let me have a Friday, split the travel costs even more, and give them something else to do during the "down week." All those cities are bigger than Quito, so could probably sell out more easily on a weekday.

BTW, I don't think I could possibly do it all myself -- I'm not organized enough!

G'day!
Guess what? I'm up to the same thing.... I have been in contact with Scott and am hoping to get Petra back to Australia - all the way over to Perth! I have been onto all the websites looking at Concerts101 etc and am hoping to contact our local Christian radio station and get them on board with the organising... with the plan that I would help with promotion....
Major key of the thing, once the sponsors and finance is done, is getting the youth groups on board. In a previous post you asked how to get youth groups involved? Simple - win over their leaders - they Know who Petra is - convince them to have a Petra tribute night or allow you to speak about Petra and introduce them to J&H. Petra have lots of great music and lots of churches have music bands - so get a focus on playing Petra music for the night....
And of course, the more airplay the better
