We need a sales report

Post by executioner » Thu Oct 09, 2003 11:07 am

I think we need some kind of comfirmation on sales of JAH. I do not remember who we were dealing with on that topic over at Inpop. Does anybody remember or know? I do not think it was Inpopjames.

Check out amazon.com and see how Petra's Jekyll & Hyde sales rank is doing. I think this is the best rank Jekyll and Hyde has done since it first came out.   Keep it up, get the word out!!

You're mistaken; at one point it was as high as 435... at this writing it's 4,659. But it HAS been out for a few months! So I'd say 4,659 is STILL pretty good.

Sales Info

All the sales reports we got about Revival came from Inpopgirl, but I haven't seen her here in quite a long time.

On this message board, we don't believe rumors from people who sign up the day they post, and only post something negative with no evidence to back it up. Give us your source, or at least your name, and we'll reconsider.

From jamierowe.com

"Not regarding the Spanish version..but last week I talked with Tony Palacios..who mixed that cd...i asked him if he heard how it was doing and he said it was selling about 4,000 a week. in this climate and the soft sales of their last few cds..that is AWESOME!
jamie"

from
John Schlitts mouth "It is only selling 1500 a week."

Back when Revival came out, there was so much hostile debate and so many accusations of dishonesty were made that the Inpop representative on the boards finally announced that they just weren't going to make any more announcements on the subject.

And they haven't for almost two years now.

Being pushing and letting people know what we want is good in the one case: We got an all out Rock album from Petra.

But I think we tend to take it a little to far. Inpop is a record label they have signed Petra, that is something we're greatfull for. However I think we need to let inpop do their job. On the other hand it would be nice to see stats on the sales of the new album. But let's put it this way, if it reaches Gold then we've done good. Our job is to keep pushing to other listeners that haven't heard it and haven't heard of Petra, or haven't heard them in a long time.

I'm sorry, but my take on this is....if our job was to know everything we would be running the outfit ourselves.

You guys are living in a dream world if you think this cd is selling 4000 copies a week, or even 1500. If it was selling 4000 a week, then it would be near the top 10 week after week. KJ-52's album sold about 4000 it's first week, and was around 11 or 12 on the sales charts, that same week Petra was in the 40's of the sales chart. How is it selling 4000 a week and it was spending it's time in the 40's? If it was selling 1500 a week then it would be in the top 40, is it? NOPE. It's fallen off the charts now.

Come on, quit making up false numbers, you'd think christians wouldn't lie about stuff like this.

Ok, yes Soundscan shows they are not on the list right now. I think we can pat Radio on the back for that one still. However Radio is playing them in several places......at least now anyway.

If some of us get quotes mixed up, or we get wrong information......try to keep yourself dry and don't wet your pants. You're coming in here trying to say that we're dreaming big.....but the thing about it is. There is a thing called FAITH that we all have in each other, in Petra and most importantly in God.

And when we say we hope to see Petra do good on this, we really mean it. Don't come here and start down playing everything that we say.....many of us petheads have worked our tales off to help keep Petra alive. We have hit our knees, night after night keeping Petra in prayer.....helping Bob and John seek the directions that God has for Petra. We have been loyal fans for many years, but not just fans...but prayer warriors and supporters of this ministry.

When we call ourselves PETHEADS it's for good cause and we are very proud of that name.

I'm sorry to everyone else, this just hits me wrong. If i'm in the wrong then pray that God will show me. But it just seems that when we start having a good chat, and when we start seeing some light and our faith is being built....it's just like the devil to work through someone to come in and down play it.

Actually, this reviewer person quoted legitimate sources, so I'm inclined to believe him until I hear otherwise-accurate or not, sales that high would rank J&H ahead of Revival.

As for bigbilly, well:

Reviewer, thanks for taking the time to substantiate your sources. I wouldn't call that "strong" evidence, but evidence nonetheless.

Now we need to figure out if we can trust John's memory... ;)
