The problem worked itself out - thank you for your prayers.

By the way, you all may have noticed I'm not posting on here nearly as often as usual - my schedule this semester is even busier than my last two semesters.

But that's actually a good thing. . . . it makes me feel more productive.

EMPLOYEES BONELY

Post by seichu kaisho » Sat Aug 27, 2005 5:19 pm

I just wanna say I'm so glad to be employed! I have to get up early some days, because on those days work starts at 7:30 or even 7:00 in the morning. But even though rising so early is hard, the fun experiences I've had at work have been worth it. I have four dishroom shifts every week, each lasting 2 - 3 hours. I also have one weekly shift cleaning the ice cream machines in the dining center.

The floor in the dishroom gets so slippery at times, it feels like I'm skating on an ice rink. One time I slipped and fell, but fortunately I grabbed onto a the side of a sink with my hand before my backside hit the ground. We have a monstrous automatic dishwasher in there - a couple times I unloaded dishes from it and sorted them by type - plates, cups, bowls, etc. The metal and porcelain objects are burning hot after they come out from the washer, since the water has to be about 190F to kill the bacteria. So I have to use gloves to handle them.

Another day, I was responsible for removing dishes and leftover food from trays. What I had to do was pick up the silverware and put it in a separate basket, then shove the other dishes off the tray (using the tray to do so) where someone else would rinse them.

Cleaning the ice cream machine took like 2 hours because you have to disassemble a lot of the parts, have them washed, and then re-assemble the thing. Someone else was showing me how to do it, since this was my first time. But in the future, I'll be on my own. *Gulp*

Anyway, I don't work on Saturdays, thank goodness. So Saturdays for me are sleep-in days and hardcore-trombone-practice days. I'm required to practice 2 hours a day - most days I just can't do that much, so I need to play catch-up.

good funny, not bad funny

Funny thing -

Last Friday I went to a bowling night with the Navigators program. On the loudspeakers there were playing a mix of contemporary worship tunes and classic secular stuff. Then suddenly I hear the speakers playing Creed and All Fired Up.

The fact that those songs were actually being played really surprised me.

Yep, Bakersfield always says more than we want to know.

Every messageboard needs someone like that. 8)
