I tried to get one, and they told me no one would get the CD before the release date expect for some radio reps and industry execs. I go to a very large church with a youth group of 350-400 and they said no one would get it. I like to know who you talked to in order to get it.judboy wrote:Actually, the CD I received did not have anything to do with being on the street team. I am waiting to receive whatever they send soon. The CD I have is the result of direct contact with inpop publicity.

So would I.
We're really trying to keep this album under wraps so as not to take away from album sales. Numbers are very important, and we want to really impact the charts for the last time for Petra!
SOOOOOOOOOOOO.... instead of trying to get one for free, you should buy a copy. On street date, preferably

Promotion
I received this CD to promote album sales in my youth group, not take away. I have already purchased one copy and will be getting others for gifts, so I did not get it for a free CD. The CD is under wraps as I would never do anything illegal with it. I LOVE PETRA! .... and more importantly, I love Jesus and I am a Christian.

We were not trying to get one for free we were trying to help promote the album with our youth groups at church. My youth group is 350 kids strong and many are somewhat Petra fans and I feel would be willing to buy it if they heard on how strong it is. It would help for a strong street date next Tuesday if it would happen. I assume we will be getting the preordered signatured one before the street date right? All preordered music I've ever done I always get on the Friday, Saturday, or Monday before release day.InpopShara wrote:So would I.

Guys, Spott does have a point...We should be glad we're getting the CD and DVD. If you need to blow off steam, beat the crap out of a pillow or go out in your back yard and scream. I've found it's very effective.
Just make sure nobody is around or they'll think you're crazy.
If you absolutely have to talk to someone, at least take it the
e-mail/private message route. Stop and think how some of this might look to someone who's not a Christian or who might not understand things can get out of hand here sometimes. Many of us don't have a background in the music biz and can't really understand what all they have to deal with when that's the case.
Sure, there's a place to speak up when something isn't right, but we need to trust that God will take care of what's not right too. The best thing anyone could do for these folks is to pray for them.

Been there done that....I would just think, if they wanted us to be a street team, and help promote the CD, which I know we are..it would help to have the materials BEFORE the CD actually came out.
I've done promotions for years now...and this is bad promotioning.

I agree. We were promised the street team stuff for Farewell but also for the last two releases. I've signed up for these projects but have never received anything. I live in a metro area of 5 million people and could be a big help. Its a shame because this should have been done at the very least a month ago and still nothing.callbeyond wrote:Been there done that....I would just think, if they wanted us to be a street team, and help promote the CD, which I know we are..it would help to have the materials BEFORE the CD actually came out.

I don't understand why you are worried about there being only a week left before street date to promote. Your promotions do not have to take place prior to street date, you know. The CD will still be in stores next month, and the month after...
Inpop doesn't have a "street date only" focus. We take a bit of a wider perspective and really concentrate our efforts on the first 90 days after release. So with that said, there is plenty of time for you to use your street team capabilities
Yes, ideally it would have been great to get this running months ago - however, we didn't discover that we were even going to be doing the CD until September, which means that the turnaround time to get everything going marketing, sales and manufacturing-wise was extremely tight. There is a LOT that goes into getting an album ready to be put on the shelves, and unfortunately with no lead-up, some things like the street team stuff ended up happening a bit late.
We really regard our street team reps as an extremely valuable asset to our marketing and promotions and we are counting on all of you to help us out. I'm sorry that many of you are frustrated and upset with how things have worked out thus far; believe me, I'm probably more frustrated than you are!
All that said, the street team packages WERE mailed out to all the regional reps late last week so if you haven't received it yet, it should be arriving any day now.
Thanks,
Shara

Didn't get it today, maybe tomorrow. But there is the DVD as well.
I am going Tue to but 22 or more. The people at church figured that the Pethead would be at the store first so I keep getting calls to pick up more. The biggest reasion for this is my son who would NOT listlen to Petra coz they were "old school" saw Petra At Taccoa Fest and now is a Pethead as well
. He can not quit talking about how great they are. Kids,,, gota love 'em.

I'm really curious about this statement. Petra announced its retirement way back at the beginning of the year, and yet the decision to do a final CD wasn't made until Sept.we didn't discover that we were even going to be doing the CD until September
Why did it take so long to decide?
I understand the need for discretion in mailing out material; it's impossible to send out pre-releases to everyone. Before you came onboard, Petheads were promised newsletters, materials, etc. for Jekyll & Hyde, which never materialized. People are frustrated because they think this is another empty promise.
Things were much better with Revival promotions, but JAH fell way short, as far as promo materials to street teams.
I don't think so, Shara.I'm sorry that many of you are frustrated and upset with how things have worked out thus far; believe me, I'm probably more frustrated than you are!
I (and Michael - owner of Guide to Petra, the longest-running Petra site on the web) run the lead singer's official site - and we've received absolutely nothing at all in which to promote this album, other than getting the general emails that everyone else does. Others have had materials for over a week, and yet we have nothing at all to use other than what we can come up with on the net.
I really don't want to sound like a crybaby, but THAT is frustrating.
