IRVING CONCERT WAS GREAT!!!

I made the 4 hour drive from San Antonio to see the guys one last time. The concert rocked, although I do miss the keyboards.

The last time I saw them was on the Salt Box Tour with Whiteheart in April 1996, so when I heard they were retiring a few months back, I did a search to find the closest concert venue and got my tickets as soon as they went on sale.

Seeing Bob in concert again is a real treat (David Lichens was on guitar in '96). That guy has to be the best guitar player I have ever seen.

First impressions of Paul Simmons - He's AWESOME! I loved Louie, but Simmons is a master on those drums. The drum solo was very cool!

I got the farewell CD (They had it on sale for the first time at this concert) and it mirrors the set list of the concert, but with the added treat of John Lawry and Greg X. Volz on a few songs. A must-have for any Pethead.

It's a shame these guys are moving on, but I do understand their reasons.... They've been a big part of my growth in Christ during these past 20 years that I've listened to them. They will be missed.

For all that made it there,did we have fun or what?The guys Rocked the place really good and what a nice place to play at I must say.I believe the total ticket sales was just over a 1,000. Great light show and the guys looked like they had a blast and wanted to leave Texas with a Big Bang!They Rocked the House and probably one of the best concerts in Texas I have ever seen with them. The concert seemed short,but maybe cause I was having to much fun and wanted to hear more songs,but they can't play em all huh! Wonder if any of the filming done during the concert will ever be shown or who was doing the filming,anybody know?
My Ears are still ringing and I got my farewell shirt,I'm happy!
All others who were there,lets hear your opinion on this last Texas Petra Concert.

Bob Hartman said at the end that some of us may have come to see if those old guys could still rock, and the answer was a resounding yes.

We almost missed it though. We hit traffic on 820 which set us back, and then we made a wrong decision on a highway to take. So we didn't actually make it until 8:00. There was a guy with an Austrailian accent speaking about Feed the Hungry, and they showed the video of Petra in Peru. These kinds of videos always touch me because I've been with children like those in Estonia, Bangladesh and Nigeria. My wife and I have actually adopted a baby from Nigeria.

So we ended up missing the bands that played before Petra. They played everything that they did in Tennesee, and did Show Your Power and We Need Jesus. I loved Louie Weaver, but it's a shame that Paul and Greg didn't join the band in 95 or so. Also the songs that previously had keyboards absolutely rocked without them.

The church was packed. Many people, including me and my friends went up in front of the stage and rocked up there. I don't know the numbers of people that were there, but I think it was a good turnout.

The last time that I had seen Petra was in 98 on the God Fixation tour. Last night, the guys held nothing back. When I saw them in 98, it seemed like something was missing. I though Pete Orta was a great guitarist, and the other guy (I'm ashamed I can't think of the bassist name at that time) was ok, and I don't remember who the keyboardist would have been. But there was just something missing in the intensity or something.

So it was more than worth the 3 hour drive, getting stuck in freeway traffic, getting lost, and nearly having my bladder burst trying to get there.

I'm sorry to those fellow petheads that I didn't get to meet you guys since I got there so late. But I did get to see a couple of friends of mine from when I lived in El Paso. It was good to see you guys, Bill and David Blevins.

I was up front for the whole show. This was my first and last Petra show, and I'm very glad I was able to be there. It was great. Bob was incredible, and Paul and his drum solo!! John sounded great, and Greg was great as well.

Like I said it was the best Concert in Texas in a long time from the Guys.And it was the first time I have seen Bob in concert in Texas.
The Head counter said 1007 people bought a ticket.
Anybody know about the filming that was being done at the concert and where it might end up? The guys with the Large shoulder Camera's made me wonder. And the guy that won the Guitar in the Raffle,whats his Address? lol

I drove from Houston with wife and son and let me tell you it was awsome! The song selection was great and let me tell you Paul brought the house down and of course the rest of the band. It is sad and this will be the last concert in Tx. This are memories and will never be forgotten!

The concert was awesome and all ten of my friends that I brought had a great time as well. I was the guy hanging out at the left side of the stage and up on the front right side of the stage when Petra come on.

Setlist was very tight and one of the best by far (still needed a Praise medley and needed to end with Parting THought just to bring things in full cirlce, and a cover ship as a back drop would have been nice... ok I'll stop), however maybe it is just me, but I did not enjoy this show as I have in the past and I think I know why. After every show in the past I was so excited and had this passion that kept me anticipating for the next show. There is no next show this time which is a very bitter pill to swallow. It was great to see Bob back in the mix. I wanted to meet them again and thank them for the ministry and years of service, but there was over 500 people in line. So I went out to eat with my friends instead.

All in all, I am very happy I got to make it to this Farewell Tour.

Petra, we wish you the best!!

Could someone who went to the Irving concert comment on the bands that played before Petra. We got there late and only saw Petra, which was well worth it. But with 3 bands scheduled to play before them, it would have seemed like Petra would have started even later.

Actually, there were only two band before Petra. It was Bread of Stone and farewell June. Bread of Stone was a pretty solid band with a good style of music, but it was hard to tell with Farewell June since they were having technical problem with the guitar. My wife was impress with Bread of Stone and Paul who played the drums made them sound even much better.

Since I got there late, I didn't get to meet any of the petheads from the zone. But there was one guy up at the stage, that I just thought would be one of us. There was somthing familiar about this guy, I'm not sure why though. Although I thought he could have been a relative of John Lawry's. After we were told to get off of the front part of the stage, he got back up and did some sort of a jump. I didn't see exactly what he did as I caught it out of the corner of my eye. Does anyone know who I'm talking about? Is he a zone pethead? LOL.

Don't know, but there was this guy taking pics. wtih camera phone and just making all kinds of funny faces that I could see him about sixteen rows back. He was funny! I was wearing my Astros cap.

I was sitting up in the seats with the old folks,well standing anyway.I took my Dad who is 65 and he had a blast.
Anybody know anything about the filming that was being done and where that footage might end up? People don't carry around shoulder mounted Camera's just because they are heavy. Answers anybody?

I was wondering the same things about those guys filming. There was once though when one of them got real up close on John, and he almost seemed surprised they were there. Maybe he was just surprised they were right up on him like that.

I wish I could have stuck around to get autographs as well, but after buying a couple of shirts and helping my friends buy some things, the line was already plenty long. With a 3 hour drive back home, we just headed back. Had I been by myself, I would have stayed.

There was a guy who spoke about "feed the hungary" and I think he stated his name was Wayne. Just wanted to know if this was the same "Wayne Seboa"?
