Fav petra songs poll #2 (come and join us)

Post by greenchili » Thu Jan 05, 2006 12:49 am

Well with the recent closing of Petra's music ministry I thought it'd be kind of cool to start a series of polls on favorite songs. Starting with their first album and working to the last. I figured I'd do an album each week.

So for those interested, get out your petra CD's and start listening.

Voting for the first album "Petra" has completed. For you late comers, if your interested feel free to jump in. Results from the previous poll.

Lucas McGraw [8]
Walkin' In The Light [5]
Wake Up [4]
Backslidin' Blues [3]
Get Back To The Bible [2]
Gonna Fly Away [1]
I'm Not Ashamed [1]
Parting Thought [1]
Mountains And Valleys [0]
Storm Comin' [0]

That puts Lucas McGraw as the winner with "Walkin' In The Light" 2nd.

Next is Petra's 2nd album "Come And Join Us" where Greg Volz joins in on the mixed leads.

Does song #9 even count?

Happy polling!

Feel free to mention any interesting trivia.

I voted for Where Can I Go, but I really dig the drum solo from Woman Don't You Know. It sounds like he's playing the drums with mallets instead of sticks during that drum break, then it ends with a huge Kung Fu gong...awesome.

I think when we had a discussion about this earlier, I voted for Come and Join Us. But I was listening to this CD just a few days ago, and I kept replaying "Without You I Would Surely Die." It's a great song. I voted for that one this time. Come and Join Us is still a favorite though.

Funny... With the presence of "God Gave Rock And Roll To You" on the album being controversial, how much diff would titling the album the same make?

Kinda like that song "Why Should The Devil Have All The Good Music?".

lol... the reprise got one vote so far. :D

I think I'm gonna relisten to a few songs as I'm still undecided.

This album flippin rocked from beginning to end, but I must choose the greatest most bestest song evah, the version that is better than all the crap ones combined, God Gave Rock and Roll to You (with the super cool intro!). It ruined my ears for any other rendition.

Thanks for the info on Rob Frazier. I updated the info. I meant to check my tape copy and see if it mentions who participated on this album but never got around to it.

can't find the poll

I'd like to vote for Ask Him In, but only because I heard Volz do it in concert and it was much better.

I think I would have to go "Without him i would surely die". Sure GGRARTY is a good song, and certainly better than the BTS remake, but WHIWSD has some really tight guitar work and comes off as the best song on the album.

Although several of the others are quite good.

Voting for this album has completed. Here are the results.

God Gave Rock and Roll To You [9]
Without You I Would Surely Die [9]
Come And Join Us [5]
Woman Don't You Know? [3]
Where Can I Go [1]
God Gave Rock and Roll To You (reprise) [1]
Ask Him In [0]
Sally [0]
Holy Ghost Power [0]

That makes a tie between "God Gave Rock and Roll To You" and "Without You I Would Surely Die"!! With "Come And Join Us" a distant 2nd.

So "Come And Join Us" in the next poll... "Washes Whiter Than".

I can't believe "God Gave Rock n Roll To You" didn't win with a landslide.
