Not a bad album, yet my least favorite. Compared to the 4 previous albums,
Against the Law is really unique and musically a step in a different direction - it has more of a "bluesy" sound, especially on songs 1, 4, and 5. I think this is their hardest-rocking album, too. The guitars are really intense and even a bit overpowering.

I thought
Shining Star was a Stryper original until I found out it is a cover of a song by a 70's group.
I've also noticed something about music from the year 1990: a lot of it seems to have a distinct sound. Parts of this album remind me of Petra's
Beyond Belief, Newsboys'
Hell is for Wimps, and the rockier songs on dc Talk's
Nu Thang (namely the song "No More"). I've also heard the song "Love is the Ritual" from Styx's 1990 album
At the Edge of the Century and when I first heard it, I thought,
yeah, it's got that 1990 sound.
(
Love is the Ritual is such an awesome kick-head rocker!!!)
My favorite song? I'd say
Not That Kind of Guy. Really intense guitar stuff, sweet solos.

I also like the title track and
Rock the People. Least favorites are
Ordinary Man and
Lady - those are kinda weak songs.
