Inpop: Thank You
Thanks very much for allowing us to have these last two projects, the live cd and dvd. I am very grateful. Petra has been the one positive influence in my life that I have never grown tired of. I know these projects, given the sales figures I have heard of on the live cd, have cost the label a lot of money to fund and may have even hurt the label, moneywise, I'm not privy to that information. But the fact that 5, 10, and 15 years from now, when I look at the cd or dvd case on the shelf and it has the Inpop label on it, will bring forth great appreciation of the risk the label took on in allowing us to have these projects. It is unbelievably sad for me to know that there will never be another new Petra music cd. However, it would have been even more sad to not have had the chance to have seen them in concert live, just one more time, and to have these projects to remember that experience by. Thank you from the bottom of my heart!
In my life, Petra has always been irreplaceable. Once I heard the band for the first time, there has never been anyone else that could compare. Although it's not nearly the same as being in the band and now having to look for new sources of income, in many ways the band's decision to retire will also alter my life in a big way. It's hard to describe but I know that one day, Petra won't be in my cd collection that I listen to in the car. This may seem silly even, but that has not been the case since I got my first car in 1993. In some ways, like John Schlitt, I'm scared because I dont know what the future holds either. It's hard to compare John's feeling to mine since it was also his source of income. Maybe even some will make fun of me for comparing what I'm going through as a fan to what someone actually physically affected by this is going through but it is what it is. What real positive music influence could ever replace Petra? None. I guess that's the REAL part that is scary. I grew up with Petra and I know that no band could ever replace that. All bands will be measured against Petra and they will always fail in one aspect, because of what Petra has meant to me. I guess that is why some are so upset that the dvd will be missing some tracks. In some ways it was almost like new material since it wasn't on the live cd and I guess I was using that as one last "new" release from Petra. Anyway, I could go on and on about this forever if you havent already fallen asleep, but I guess what I'm saying is that you're not just seeing the end of a regular rock band here. You're seeing the end of a big part of my life for the last 20 years. And as someone who's just 31 years old, it's hard to say "Farewell" ...
Thanks for reading,
Phillip

GRACIAS INPOP!!!!!

Looks like you beat me too it. But I'd recomment changing the title to
"Inpop, Petra: Thank You".
I do not think I have quite as much as you said, or speek spanish
, but I'll keep this one brief.
Thanks Petra for several great years of good solid music (mostly), good quality lyrics (and not giving in to naysayers), high quality production, high quality concerts, and bringing many lost souls to Christ, and those already there even closer.
Thank Inpop for providing a few more records from Petra and even though I didn't care for some of the decisions. Anyone who can drag Bob out of retirement is ok in my book. Too bad it didn't last or go as everyone hoped.
One of these days I'll figure out where "Revival" fits in my music collection.
I just have this tendancy to lump groups together where their styles usually mesh pretty well.
Oh and a big super dooper thanks to God for allowing those of us that were around to experience it.

I've got to add my thanks, too... people can complain all they want, but without Inpop putting some faith (and money, and time, and effort) behind Petra, the last Petra album would have been Double Take, one of the most hated Petra albums of all time. Instead, Petra went out with one barrel of Jekyll & Hyde and one barrel of Petra Farewell. I also thank Inpop that it wasn't your idea that Petra call it a day; it was Bob and John's idea. They weren't put out to pasture; you believed in them up to the end.

There isn't much else that I can add to this thread that hasn't already been said.
Inpop literally extended Petra's life by 5 full years. As fans, we may not always get what we want, but we should (and are) very thankful for what we did get. I personally will always be grateful for those last five years. Petra went out with a bang (Jekyll & Hyde, Farewell)instead of a fizzle (Double Take) thanks to Inpop.

I (he) should give thanks for one thing, in which I (he) have thought about for a long time: the latest part of Petra's history - from REVIVAL to FAREWELL - which the Lord bestowed unto us through INPOP, was the era of a group very close to us, much more than when they were LOS HOMBRES GRANDES in the past. I (he) will never forget the night of the 2005 concert in Mxico City, when for a moment I (he) was fully aware that in this place, accompanied by Cinthya, my (his) beloved wife, were two of the greatest blessings in my (his) life: my (his) family, and Petra.
Thanks INPOP, for extending the Lord's blessing on our lives for several more years.

Yep, I'm also thankful for how Inpop really cared for Petra and allowed them to continue on for their final 4 years. And despite the negative things Star Song and Word Records may have done, I still think we should be thankful for those two record companies as well - without those companies Petra might not have thrived much longer after 1979 or 1989. Overall, I think Star Song and Word might actually have done more good for Petra than harm. And Myrrh for helping get Petra's ministry started in the first place.
