John was only there Monday, for many reasons, only one of which I will share, as these reasons were part of a private conversation.executioner wrote:I've heard that Rick Florian had stayed away from the CCM business and was a real estate agent; Could this be a sign that maybe White Heart might be doing something again? I know when they said they were no longer a group they made it clear that they were just taking a break to see what else was out there. So maybe we could see them again in te future.
John is following Rick's lead and is getting into real estate. He took his test Tuesday.
John wants to do a lite AC album.

Rick went through a divorce at one point... I can't imagine that it could've been a picnic and would certainly qualify as a rough time.
Of course, 'one other lead singer' Scott Douglas went through some really rough times as well... last I heard, he's currently doing very well though and living here in Tennessee. Rough time with a happy ending...

What!?! Brent didn't know about that?
Yes it was the divorce that I was referring too and it occured around the time that White Heart called it quits. In fact their album "Redemption" is tied into it as well.
Yeah I read about Scott Douglas somewhere recently. Oh yeah, and there is a nice interview with Billy Smiley over at Christian Music Rewind. Go check it out.

I see how divorce could happen to any artist. Constantly gone on tour, home only here and there, secluded to write the next record, record the next record, push the next record, tour again. Yeah. My wife and I have had this conversation about time management and priorities. That's why I have always said, and even Paul in the NT regarding ministry, it is a single persons game. Get more done without strings.

well...
I don't know that ministry should always be a single person's job. Certainly there may be situations where that is best, and there may be people called to a ministry that is best suited for a single person. In the case of married couples and ministry, I think Peter Furler eloquently pointed out, recently, what can easily happen. A ministy can easlily turn into one spouse's ministry while the other spouse is left out. If that ministry is absorbing too much of that person's time and energy, it puts a serious strain on the relationship.
Perhaps in the old days, a husband and wife would have just remained together despite that strain. Now it seems more common to just get divorced. As though it's better to deal with the ramifications of getting divorced than to deal with the strain of remaining together.
You could fix the problem, but in today's world that's a foreign concept when it comes to many issues.
I think Peter F. said it right that a husband and wife must decide that both partners need to be involved in the ministry, and that they must find ways to make that happen.

My wife can't hardly travel with me, but she is a good phone/office support person. I keep her in the loop, on the phones, responding to emails, and things go much smoother. Not only that, but ladies gab more (here comes the hate mail) and hence provide better networking skills than us guys.
Not only that, but many of you musicians and/or hobbiests of another kind know what it is like getting the wife to agree to spend money on what she perceives "toys". "Honey, I REALLY need some new software. I REALLY need a new..." Mine understands now, because she sees that it saves me time, or increases quality. . So,
