God Gave Rock

Post by Michael » Mon Oct 23, 2006 4:46 am

Hey guys... you probably all know the checkered history of the song God Gave Rock & Roll To You (Argent -> Petra -> KISS with changes of the lyrics of the verses at every turn). Some of you may also be aware that in the late 80's or early 90's, Bride and D.O.C. recorded what kind of amounts to an early rapcore version of the song, wiht Bride singing and screaming the chorus and D.O.C. rapping the verses. If you dig the late 80's rap stuff like D.O.C. or maybe dcTalk, you've got to watch this. If you don't, especially if you're so young this song was recorded before you were born, you probably will laugh your butt off. hehe Image

I remember owning that video at one time. It's really not a bad version of the song but I never did care for the rapping parts. Other than that, Bride rocked that song pretty hard if I do say so myself! :D

Crap. I guess I can scratch our harder than hard rock version of it from PDC2. Personally, I liked KISS's version best musically.

Hey I made the 700 club.

Just for fun, this afternoon I set up a page with the CITS version, the KISS version, and the D.O.C./Bride version videos embedded in it:

I always felt that version suffered the same fate of all the non-Come and Join Us versions. That being it was terrible.

 Love the purple outfits...

Did not realize that the KISS version of GGRRTY was part of the Bill & Ted's Bogus Journey soundtrack. Although I do remember them using the song in the movie. Most Excellent!
