What happened to the ZJAM concert?

Post by misterbob » Tue Jan 06, 2004 11:02 am

Hey there...
I cannot access the ZJAM concert anymore and have not been able to burn it yet (new toys for Christmas ya know).

The scoop?

It's gone from the hosting website? Zjam, or wherever they had it (cdnmedia or something like that)

Have you tried grabbing it via jws.com?

That's weird...I just clicked on my favorites link and it came up with no problem.

However, to answer your question, I cannot seem to load it from JWS.com. Let me try it again at home tonight and I will keep in touch with a response.
Thanks

I know I may be pushing my luck but it would be great to have all 8 of the tracks. That way I can get it burned for my girls right away.

Thanks...

I have to say thanks to misterbob. I remember hearing about this a while back but never heard the clip, until last night. That is the best thing Ive ever heard from Petra.Ive been just loving this thing. The link on jws.com is not right. If you right click on either "Click to Listen" or the place that says Right Click to download, both only save a link to the site that is hosting the file. If you save the ram file, and open in notepad, it shows where it is stored on cdnmedia.net, which is an rm extension instead of ram. If you use getright or another download manager, you can paste that url into there and actually download the entire 27.2 MB rm file.

Awesome music!!! Ive had so much fun listening to Amazing Grace. The way Bob does that guitar work at the beginning and throughout the whole song is so much better than the studio version. Also, Right Place and Dance sound great! I wished the end of Dance hadnt been cut off a little early, the guys were awesome at the end when they went to commercial. I would have loved to hear them finish the whole thing. Beyond Belief and He Came, He Saw also sounded so much better than at the Alive HOB Concert a few years ago. Of the new songs, Perfect World is good but it isnt near as good as the studio version ... yet! It sounded like it was missing some instruments but still great for four guys playing a song. Jekyll and Hyde along with All about who you know and Life as We know it sounded a lot better and you can tell how much it has improved live since the See you at the Pole video. It was such a heavy rock show, I just thought at any minute they might going into Defector or Mine Field or even I Love the Lord, which doesnt have a lot a keyboards in the original, it would be a good candidate for them to play live now as well. I was dreaming I suppose :) Awesome show!

RAM file

Post by Michael » Fri Jan 09, 2004 9:08 am

The correct way to stream a RealMedia clip is to use a small text file containing the URL of the actual clip; this ensures that the visitor only has to download the small clip before beginning playback (because RealPlayer will know to stream the media).

Real.com information about the subject

It also allows you to do things like what I did with that "click to listen" link... open the actual page that the audio came from in RealPlayer so you can see the real site (it's the least we can do for them for hosting our audio, right?) It looks like I may have gotten the extension of the small text file wrong somehow... maybe the documentation I was looking at has been superceded or something, or maybe I just messed up, I don't know. But it works fine if you're using RealPlayer; if you're using a different player your mileage may vary, and that's the chance you take using alternate technologies. I use Mozilla as my browser, and I understand that the majority right now uses IE so there are some things that are coded directly for IE that won't work in Mozilla. It's just sort of the way the world works.

The "right-click to download" link, however, is correct and always has been. I doubt that it will make any difference, but I'll get the launch file extension changed to .ram instead of .rm (because that would be more correct). D'OH!

Please help!!

Post by woncpa » Fri Jan 09, 2004 9:24 am

Hi, could someone please email me the song files for the ZJAM concert. I have tried several times to do the conversion myself, but my lack of computer smarts and my lack of a super computer have really made this difficult for me. Much appreciation and thanks!!
God Bless You!!

I've still got the directions for conversion on my website www.petrapraise.com under the others tab. That should get you converted to WAV format. If your still, stuck I'll Email what I have listed on my website to you.
