Post by mikey32187 » Sun Jan 18, 2004 8:01 pm

Its a Great album but I have 3 complaints

the lack of solos

the short songs

in some places <most of> the you cant hear John's voice to well because of the music's loudness

If you have MusicMatch, you can rip the CD into MP3 files, then burn them to a blank CD-R using the graphic equalizer and making sure you enable digital enhancements during the burning process.

If you buy the DFX sound enhancer (for MusicMatch), you can get a super hi-fi sound recorded to your copy that completely blows away the original CD you bought in the store.

That's what I did, and it helped to bring out John's voice. Plus, the CD sounds a lot louder and bassier (but not overkill) than the original. :D

I just adjusted the tone until I was satisfied.

When i first played it, I demanded that it not stop rockin'. However, when the last song ended, it did precisely that. That's my beef. That it didn't follow my instructions.

Meh, I stand by my repetition. It was for emphasis.

Well, on a "Praise God" note, I gave my non-Christian friend a CD of J&H and he loves it. He first comment was "Hey, this sounds alot like Head East!!". I says with a grin "Hey, dude, that is because the lead singer used to be with the band!".

He play guitar in local bands and really likes the guitar riffs!! Compared alot of them to secular bands.

What guitar riffs? On Jekyll & Hyde?

The only one I can remember is on Perfect World, and I think it lasted a whole 2 seconds.

A "riff" is different from the "solos" everyone keeps whining for. The first seven seconds or so of the CD are a "riff."

Ohhhh... now I get it. Pardon me for being so dense. I haven't been in a band since I was in college and my lingo is a little rusty! :)

Trust me, the entire CD is chock full of some the juiciest riffs you'll ever hear on any rock album. I don't mind the lack of solos because if you just pay attention to Bob's playing, you'll get all the guitar licks you could ever want.

Regarding the album mix, I think it's perfect. Too short? Maybe, but I've found that you can listen to it several times in a row and not get tired of it, so just listen to it three times and you'll have 90 minutes of solid head bangin' guitar riffin' rock n' roll, just the way God likes it!
