Alakrity ft. John Schlitt

Post by p-freak » Mon Jan 14, 2008 2:28 pm

John has been in the studio with a Wisconsin-based band called Alakrity, lending his guest vocals to one of the songs on their next album. It seems like they've recorded a cover of Beyond Belief. This album will release probably some time this year? Isn't that fun!!

Man, I would do anything to go to that show, but I just looked at the distance via Mapquest, and it's 4 hours and 45 minutes from where I live.

**Prays for a John Schlitt concert to come to Iowa**

And your point being?

I've driven 8.5 hours to see them.

That's not that bad of a drive.

I drove down to Waterloo in December... around that same distance. Not bad at all.... no snow or anything to deal with.

It is when you have an unreliable piece of crap car to drive, like I do. I wouldn't trust it to go someplace 2 hours away, let alone almost 5 hours.

Ah.... that makes it tough. Borrow a car? Ask someone to go along and use THEIR car?

I didnt get to go to the show with Alakrity.. but I did go to the one the next night in Bolingbrook!! A few of the people there had been to the Alakrity show and said it was great! The show in Bolingbrook was awesome! John looked and sounded great! It was so cool to hear his new songs live! This new album really added a great variety to John's Solo set! Make sure you get out to see him soon!

I was there... (duh!).

He had a blast with the kids..... the song is done up 'punk-style' which, on first listen, I was like 'what?' I have a hard time appreciating punk, but the song was full of energy, excitement, and very fun live!

John came in on the bridge and following... it's really a different sound for him too - you'll notice a few new changes in vocals and arrangements as well.

When it comes out I'll put out a newsletter and probably put up some sound clips as well.

The night was filmed, so when it's all put together we'll grab that video of the performance and put it on the website as well.
