I don't whine THAT much..... just when it comes to scroll bars! They're EVIL!
Thanks for the wording, Micah... I like that!
Bakerfield, that is a great looking logo! very cool! It would look great on tshirts... maybe that could be a new project... hmmmm.....
It would be good if you could come up with a banner ad that webmasters could put on their site, telling people that the Zone has moved to .NET for now.

I am starting to work on the banner add
I will also go to work for submission on Google and other sites, if no one has done that yet. Just because I have nothing better to do.
The question is, do we want the Banner add to be in macromedia "Flash"
or animated gif, or just a plain ol' jpg?

Personally, I prefer a plain graphic to a flash file... it's a bit simpler to add to your site. And I think people automatically ignore stuff that moves around a lot of times... if you decide to make an animated GIF, do a static version too.

If we do T-shirts, PLEASE make sure that under the logo, or on the back or something, it says "ThePetraZone.net" so people will know where to go looking for us!
Ooo, I know. We screen print the logo and "ThePetraZone.net" on the front, and then everybody who gets one has their Zone ID put on the back! kEwL!!!

Here's that link
I think it looks great! Say, do you put any compression on your jpegs? I was easily able to compress your original 29k file:
...to 7.89k with little or no loss of quality:
To my eyes, the background looks a shade less white, but the rest looks pretty much the same. For the Web, smaller is almost always better!
I used 80% quality (or 20% compression, different software goes at it differently but it always adds up to 100%).

It so happens that I have a copy of ULead SmartSaver 3.0 on this computer, and that's what I used for that. It lets you change compression settings and see the results compared to the original, and also the original and resulting file sizes, side by side. Newer versions of Paint Shop Pro can do that too, and I'm sure most modern graphics software has that somewhere. I usually use IrfanView... it's free, it can read and save LOTS of formats (although there is only very simple editing... like, cropping and not too much else), and I set it to 70 or 80% compression and just check the results against the source myself.

Irfanview - I use it as the viewer for almost any graphics format known to man, and it can also do cropping, some color correction type stuff and save compressed files. Hey COOL, it can play MP3's now! hehe
The ULead SmartSaver software was commercial software I got (legitimately) somewhere, but they do have lots of free stuff
right here. Actually that free button-making program might be interesting, although I do have access to Fireworks now (if I just had the time to learn to USE it right!)
