Is it GOOD the industry overlooks Petra and doesn't try to cash in $$$ with a so-called "tribute" album?

The best cover tunes that sell are tunes that everyone knows. You can google to get the best cover tunes.

The current "masses" do not know Petra. Thusly, their tunes are not good candidates. Nobody cared to buy Petra, so why would they buy covers?

Besides that, EMI is rereleasing the real deal. Those aren't flying off of the shelves.
