Petra on TBN?

Post by brent » Wed Jul 30, 2008 8:24 pm

It just hit me as I was laying in bed, allowing my Adult ADD to take off once again. My mind raced back without me to the last Petra appearance on TBN (Trinity Broadcast Network, to me known as The Blasphemy Network). Petra was on TBN where Paul Crouch begs for money to pay off his gay lover, tells people that if they were saved as a result of TBN but did not give, God would rescind salvation to them. It is where Benny Hinn preaches his twisted crap that Adam flew to other planets and that Jesus was at his crusades in the flesh (and has video to prove it), blah, blah, blah. It is where all of the Word-of-Faithers and false prophets sell their products.

Nobody said anything about that. But somehow John singing at the Crystal Cathedral is a big deal. Not to peal off a scab, but what was the deal with that?

I don't know much about TBN or Petra performing on TBN. I do, however, know about Schuller and the Crystal Cathedral.

TBN telethons are great. This is wear Benny Hinn gets to look like the idiot he is. Here are some famous quotes made on the set and never retracted by Hinn, or damage controled by Crouch and his wig wearin', manic depressed wife:

1989:
"The Lord also tells me to tell you in mid 90s, about '94 or '95, no later than that, God will destroy the homosexual community of America. He will destroy it with fire."

"The Spirit of God tells me, an earthquake will hit the East Coast of America and destroy much in the 90s."

"The Spirit tells me, Fidel Castro will die in the 90s. Holy Spirit just said to me, it'll be worse than any death you can imagine."

"God the Father, ladies and gentleman, is a person and He is a triune being by Himself, separate from the Son and the Holy Ghost. See, God the Father is a person, God the Son is a person, God the Holy Ghost is a person; but each one of them is a triune being by himself. If I can shock you and maybe I should, there s nine of them! What did you say? Let me explain. God the Father, ladies and gentlemen, is a person with his own personal spirit, with his own personal soul and his own personal spirit body. You say, I never heard that! Well, you think you are in church to hear things you heard for the last fifty years?"

Go to www.equip.org and check out Hank's book The Counterfeit Revival. TBN is all through it. If you get the audio version, the audio clips from their own shows are included.

Those quotes sound like they came from Pat Robertson. Eesh. I know plenty about Benny Hinn. I just never really knew much about TBN because we never got the channel and I still don't have it.

A televangelist (I refuse to call him a preacher) named John Avanzini is the all-time worst of 'em on TBN...yes, even worse than Benny "You think I should drive a Yugo?" Hinn.

A few years ago I was channel flipping, and landed on TBN during one of their "Pledge-A-Thons" (where fools are separated from their money). Avanzini was talking about the parable of the lost coin. Instead of talking about salvation (which is what that parable is about), good 'ol "Big Hair" Avanzini was saying that it really means that God wants you to be rich.

He then started shouting at the top of his lungs, "God, I can't wait for my treasures in heaven...I need 'em here, NOW!". I honestly didn't know whether to cry or puke.

TBN = The Baal Network.

He is a stupid donkey. He had some people worked up when he was "preaching" (raising money), and he had the crowd shouting "We are gods! We are gods! We are gods!" I have felt the presence of the demonic around me just a few times in my life. Utter darkness. It FREAKED me out! This was one of those times. I was scared for those people, all of the deceived, and for that knuckle-head Avenweenie.

Paul Crouch is on tape (and youtube) saying that he IS a God. Because he is joint with Jesus, that when you look at Paul, you are looking at Christ, therefore since Christ is God, he is a God. Wow.

Petra and TBN

Post by Preacherman777 » Fri Aug 01, 2008 5:22 pm

I have to admit, it has always bothered me that Petra and others in CCM go on TBN. But it bothers me most when it comes to Petra as I see them as being a very spiritually solid group and therefore, it seems odd that they would lend any credibility to an outfit that teaches a false gospel.

Maybe not during the JAH era, but during Petra's hey day I think Word had more of a say so in where and what appearances Petra were obligated too.

Brent, I had thought about that when we were having the Schuller discussion but didn't want to just throw more gasoline on the fire. I do have a problem with Petra having been on The Blasphemy Network. I had a problem with D. James Kennedy and The Way of Master guys as well. I think it lacks wisdom for any of them to appear with those people and, once again, appear as brothers in fellowship with enemies of the gospel.

Honestly, I've never looked into what Paul and Jan taught. I just knew they would bring just about anyone on that network that could draw interest. Had I known what Paul taught when Petra appeared on their network, I surely would have been just as disgusted as I was when John was "worshiping" with the Schuller's.

But Brent, wasn't it you that wanted to lock this discussion out?

Yeah. I did request the lock up. It was getting silly.

Like I said. I had one of those late night moments when my brain takes off. You know? Sometimes I replay situations and do the old I shoulda' said that here, or done this there.

I guess my point still remains. We should all do what we do where ever God provides the opportunity. Petra played Farm Aid, hardly a Christian event with Christian promoters. Why couldn't John or anyone else play a church that isn't Christian either?

If someone from TBN called PDC to come play, we would do it. I would then open the set with our new tune "I Don't Trust You Now." It is right up their alley. They wouldn't even know what him 'em.

i dont watch TBN regulary, only when there is a guest on there i want to see. Michael Sweet and his wife has appeared several times in 2006-2007 on that network. A few others as well that i like. I have never heard about these things you have mentioned about TBN, Brent. the Big question is.. is Benny Hin real or fake? i have heard both. im not caught up in any preacher.. and if i dont know the truth about someone trying to be a leader, if from God or not, i trust the Lord will give me the insight from what is right or wrong about them. Peace!

Hinn is a false "prophet". He is a heretic. He was booted out of the AOG. They would not support or promote his gigs any more because of the numerous counts of staged events that were deceptive. Look into it. Take what he says and line it up with scripture. It won't.

Paul and Christ warned against false teachers a lot. They've gotta be out there somewhere...and be somebody...
