Back in like 1998, I met Louie at a show and showed him my first album which I had recorded a few years earlier. He looked at it and said, "So what have you done with it?" I a little taken aback. I wasn't ready for that question. I was like, "Well, ah, I have it for sale a my local Christian book store." That's all I said and then I moved along. I felt like such a dope.

Coming from Louie, who has an enterprising spirit, I can see how the strong question would hit a new artist. But he was probably just curious.

Louie will ALWAYS tell you what is on his mind, whether you want it, like it, can take it. I found him to be a good judge of people. So he waits to see what the threshold is before he speaks. He is also great about making his boundaries clear.

Some people are a bit blunter in how they express themselves than others, and there's nothing wrong with that per se. Given a choice between dealing with someone who is blunt sometimes and dealing with a back stabber, I would rather deal with the blunt person. But there's a place for tact and diplomacy in how you deal with people, and for the most part I think people will respond better to tact than to feeling they're being personally attacked.

I haven't had much contact with Louie, so I can't speak for him, and that's not the final word or anything, but I've always believed it's possible to make your point without trashing someone in the process. Just some thoughts. Whatever the case, things would be boring without different personality types.
