JOHN SCHLITT CONCERT IN ATLANTA REVIEW... PHOTOS/VIDEO

Post by microkoe » Mon Oct 13, 2008 9:05 pm

Ok, ive seen Petra 3 times in the past.. and never once met any of the guys.. (except Greg X Volz) til now! I was recently on Johns website posting a comment, and telling him i hoped he come to Atlanta, and Sue had seen it and emailed me like a week later or so.. saying.. "Youve Got Your Wish"!! God is Good! He did several shows here this last week, but the one i could make it to was on Saturday nite the 11th. @ The Java.

ok.. was running late.. ive never heard of this place , so i wasnt sure where it was. Well.. i drove right past the road it was on.. mabe a mile out of the way or so.. and it was going on 8pm. Show starts @ 730pm. I was freaking out.. all worried i wasnt gonna find this joint, and ive missed half the concert already!! Well.. i prayed.. God please direct me to this place. haa. Well,, i turned around.. and started going back and then saw the street sign that the place was suppose to be on. ha.. At last i found it!! Thanks God!! Pulled up,, one teen boy was coordinating the parking.. i rolled down my window, and asked if this was the Java, he said yes.. (cause all i seen was the church's name on the bld). he asked if i was with the band LOL. I says no,, here to see John!! ok so i parked.. went in... a youth band was playing.. im like where is John!!!!!! freaking out.. i went outside to ask someone. They said he goes on @ 8pm.. Whew,, ok

Btw,, the youth band was Awesome! I think it was the Dayspring Church Worship Band. Anyways....... a guy announced John Schlitt and he come walking in! Yea!!!!! The stage was cool.. set up in like a circle. With Chairs all around the stage. John came on stage.. and it was a nite to remember! He started out with prayer. Im trying to remember all the songs , but i may miss one or 2. In between songs.. john talked. he said he did that cause he is getting older, and it gives him a chance to rest. lol.

if i remember right.. the songs not in this order, are:
only men
the grafting
your eyes
gravity
beyond belief
wake the dead
show me the way
God is too big
just reach out
a few off 2 guys from petra ( i dont remember which ones)
if i missed one or 2 sorry..

John talked about the song before he sang it
Tears came to my eyes when he talked about the meaning behind The Grafting song.
He also gave his testimony and talked about his grandkids , and was very entertaining and funny on stage.

ok.. he sang Just reach out.. and that ended the show. He walked out.. NOOOO!! I had to meet him.. i waited well.. since i started listening to Petra in like 1986!! Well.. i calmed down... after the guy said he will be back in the coffee shop to sign autographs!!!! Yea!! There was id say.. roughly between 30-40 pple there mabe? lots of youth. I liked the intimate setting. Did i say . that John sounded Awesome! He did! I cracked up when he sang octaves lower on Beyond Belief.. on like the last chorus! ok... so...

i waited around in the coffee shop for john to come in. I had my Grafting cd in hand to be signed.. my camera, and i asked at the counter,, if it was alright to leave some business size cards, promoting Strypers new cd single.. Peace of Mind.. The lady @ the counter said Sure. So Thanks! ok John comes in.. i began to get nervous lol.. idk why.. just me. I met Michael Sweet from Stryper 7 times.. and i thnk the last 2 i wasnt nervous,, but the first 5 i was!!! haaa just me. I kind of waited and let the line go down at the table. so i could talk to John. ok i was up there. I told him the Your Eyes was my fav off the cd, and i enjoyed the concert very much etc etc.. shot a few pics of him and I.

Then kind of hung around. Talking to him when he wasnt busy with someone else. thats just me.. i get star struck and stuff i guess LOL.
Come to find out. he knows where my little village of 450 people is, called Ransom IL, where i was born and raised for 17 yrs. I was like you dont know where it is. He was like yes i do, I lived in IL for 18 yrs he said. i was like wow.. no one had heard of it lol. i cant remember all we talked about.. but i did mention Sue here, and told him i sent her a magazine he was in , cause it was on the magazine rack in back of him. He said Thanks!

I think i stood there for about 45 minutes,, he probably thought i was a nut. haa oh well.. I just told him he was one of my fav singers.. next to Michael Sweet. he chuckled.. and said that mike was competition. haaa Tallked about how mike toured with Boston this summer and i gave him an update on his wifes medical condtion. Well.. after all this. i finally gave up and let him go. haaaa its like 10:45 pm. If you watch this first video of clips and photos i took.. it will sum up a Great nite! I was truly Blessed! Thank you to John Schlitt, Sue for letting me know, and Dayspring Church for Bringing him in!! the links below are videos and photos i shot.. please take a look! Thanks and God Bless!

Thanks for the report! I had to chuckle - you sound like me, many years ago... hanging around, talking and generally being star-struck (or something like that!).

Small beginnings make for big happenings, if the Lord's in it...

Now the ultimate for you, Mike - do a concert of your OWN and bring John to YOUR church! I'm serious... if everyone who said "please send John down my way!" would/could go ahead and bring him in to their church, I could send him and he would be a very busy man.

I'll keep putting bugs in people's ears about this, because that's how I got started as a promoter, albeit a little small-time one... someone casually mentioned it, and the thought just wouldn't go away.

A dozen or so concerts later... and here I am today as an agent. How did THAT happen?!

I came from a VERY conservative church made up mostly of older people who never or hardly heard of Christian music. The only instrument in the whole building was an organ and an upright piano.

But the PASTOR was all for outreach, and that's why the church agreed to do it - because the pastor showed them that this was a way to spread the word.

It was held in a neutral place (local high school) for very cheap ticket price ($5) and advertised all over mainstream outlets.

But above all... prayer.... and I surely saw the 'power of the praying man'... or shall I say WOman!
