Greg X. Volz - God Only Knows is available!!
Greg's new album is available for purchase at: http://www.dpulse-america.info.
You can either pre-order the physical CD, that will be sent out on the official release date of 03-February-2009.
Or you can immediately buy the digital release. This includes 4 bonus-tracks not available on the physical CD. It seems that these bonus-tracks are only available up until the official release date, but I'm not sure.
You can also have a listen to the entire album there.
More information available at Petraspective about the album and the bonus tracks.
The album is produced by Greg X. Volz and John Lawry.
I really like this album. It might be his best since The River Is Rising, and I'm usually not quick to say such things.

Never could get into Volz's voice. I know the man is a phenomenal singer, but I dunno...never did anything for me.
It's funny...the way some (notice I said "some", not "all") Petra fans are split into two camps. One group loves Volz and not Schlitt, and the other camp loves Schlitt and not Volz.
It reminds me of the rock band AC/DC...some worship Bon Scott and can't stand Brian Johnson, while some love Johnson and say "meh" about Scott.

Brett Vargason
Tom Michael
Todd Shay
4-5 other guitarists and dobro player
John Lawry on keys
Phill Lassiter on horns
This album sounds nothing like SF though. This is Greg doing good old, organic American AC pop/rock Jesus Music. Some of it reminds me of early Petra stuff. There is more of a pop blues slant in some of the tunes. One tune reminds me of early ZZ Top.
It is tastefully done. It isn't too deep. Best of all, THERE ARE NO 7-11 P&W tunes!!!!! YEEEEHAAAAW!!!!!
It is a clean recording, mix and master. John did a good job on that.

Greg's New Album
All I can say is wow! Brent's review is right on. This is more along the lines of what I've been hoping to hear from him in a good long while. What a joy just to hear those pipes again!!
I bought both John's and Greg's new solo albums. I think they are both well done...given the constraints of an independent album. I have to admit though...I think Greg's album edges John's for me. I don't know...maybe I'm just stuck wanting to hear John rock it out all the time. I just think his voice is better suited for that sort of thing...I'm still one of those old-timers who just didn't care all that much for the mellower Petra post-No Doubt and pre-Jekyll and Hyde! I think Greg amped his album up a bit...at least compared to his P & W albums!
Overall though..I just thinks it great to hear those two guys producing albums. I hope that they continue to put out albums on an independent basis.
BTW, long time no talk...I hope everyone here at the Zone is doing well!

amiestreet.com is the dumbest idea I have ever seen in marketing. I suspect it will be short lived. Only fools would invest time and resources competing for 2% of the market that iTunes, Amazon, Walmart and BestBuy leave behind.
The artist makes nothing. Why would you want to buy from this moronic site, when it is available from the artist directly and would help the artist directly if you bought from them?
I am going to call Greg to get his take and thought process on this, if he is even aware of it. He is tied in with Universal, one of the most protective labels and distribution networks out there. I wonder how "legal" this is.
