I wish we could have done a few things diffrent, was really... really rushed at the end. This album is really like 3 albums in one if you listen closely you'll see the changes in the style and musicianship.
I have been working on this album two years and it went through
name changes, artist changes, and song ideas.
Back in March of 02', I saved up $1800 and went into the studio
and started recording a solo album. I can not sing, can hardly talk
(lol, just ask Sue), I went into this to record a rap rock album.
Those being the first tracks being recorded in order were....
1.Cain 2 Abel
2.Dr.Love
3.Bargain Bin
4.Holy Roller (which was called "Dance of Fools")
when Jamie, Dale, and others started to say they would sing on it.....
the album changed and we thought we would do an all-star
CD with me rapping and these other guys singing........
that's when we recorded......
5.Rise
6.FHL
at this time more and more guys were saying they would do it
this is when the album spinned into the AOR 80's record.
Which is the style I prefer
In fact "Dr.Love", was originally sung 100% by Jamie Rowe
(besides the rap) and we went back and had Michelle sing it and left Jamie singing backup. Jamie gave me a demo worktape from his
short lived rap/rock group called Kung Pao Fugitives, which
had "FHL","Rise",and a rapping "Noise". I asked Jamie to rerecord
"Noise" and make it a more Motley Crue sounding song and that's what you hear on the record.
The last three songs were not even suppose to be on there
I just thought the album lacked some real meat. That's
when we added Ken Tamplin, Mitch Malloy, and Robert Fleischman.
We could have just released the rock side, but we thought we already paid
for the rap stuff and had all thes "known" singers on it, why just trash it.
For the most part I like all the songs, I think the first 13 songs
are the best.
"Change Comes Around" was originally a Harem Scarem song that we redid. Mike Roe could not hit the original notes, so I thought it would be
cool to bring in the original singer to sing the choruses. That's
how Harry Hess got involved.
The next record is "my masterpiece", I wish I could play it for you it is incredible !!!! We just finshed a ballad with a 80's rock secular guy and it is really moving and very annoitted. It is a big piano ballad and it is my fav so far. The record is gonna have 15 tracks
and have no rap

.
Anyway I do like "WTTR" and I know God is goona use it, one thing
about the record is it glorifies Jesus in every song.
That is and was my real goal !
