"new"singer
if john had/wished to leave i would say Kevin Chalfant who previously fronted 707, the vu, two fires, and various solo albums, along with just releasing a gospel cd. also he has his own record label/studio. and is a dedicated Christian. He has worked with jim peterick (the guy who wrote all the survivor songs). he was also in the running to sing for Journey, actually he has fronted them a couple times in live shows, he was also in the storm with gregg rollie, ross valory from journey etc.

Steve Taylor?
I love Steve Taylor, but the lyrical differences between him and Petra are pretty extreme. He definitely goes more for sarcasm/satire, and Petra's forays into that area are rare...
Why not Glenn Kaiser?
Or if you're looking for female vocalists, why not his wife, Wendi? The Rez Band gets no respect!

toby hitchcock. he sang on the pride of lions cd with jim peterick (from survivor) has an awesome voice. btw it was dave bickler that sang eye of the tiger, jimi came in at a later date. and stevie nicks has said that she is a white witch. guess she doesn't realize it is all from the same source.
