Prayer Request
We just found out yesterday my aunt (dad's sister) has lung cancer, and it's pretty advanced, there's really nothing they can do for her. It's not surprising, years of smoking has caught up with her, but it's still sad. Pray for her and my uncle.

Oh, Shell, that's really tuff news for your family. Cancer is such an awful disease and I'm sure your aunt must feel pretty scared. Does she know Jesus?
Dear Lord,
What a wonderful Friend You are to those who are Your children. How awesome it is to know that You are not only our Holy Lord, but that You have also called us Your friends. It's a humbling thought that the God who made everything and is all powerful would even consider us friends.
Thank You for the beautiful sacrifice of Your cross for our salvation and thank You that we may pray and place our requests at Your feet. Today we want to pray for Shell's Aunt as she has just found out that she has lung cancer and the doctors can't do anything for her. Human efforts are at an end in this case, but we serve the living God, the Rock of Ages who never changes. Lord You have healed people with just Your spoken Word, I remember the centurion and his faith and how his servant was healed and You didn't even go to his house! Lord if You will, would You touch Shell's Aunt? Would You become a witness to her, her husband and every single doctor that they come in contact with? Would You glorify Your name in her life? We pray and ask for complete healing and recovery that she may live praising You and glorifying You? Lord as she is going through this fiery trial, please be her strength, be her comfort. Place Your arms around her so tightly that she may feel Your presence physically.
Foremost I pray that You protect her from the fear inside that she must be feeling and is surely struggling with. Replace that fear with rising faith so strong it cannot be shaken. Let her and her husband trust in You totally and completely. We thank You that You will see them both through this trial and that they will know that they are not forsaken and not walking through this alone. May people come to comfort them and help them both and also be a support to Shell's uncle as he's taking care of his wife and tries to be the best support he can be to her. Give him wisdom and the right words to say and to do the right things, so that she will know that she's loved by him and that he cares and that he will be by her side to see her through this.
Thank You Lord for hearing our prayers and thank You for taking care of this couple, specially Shell's aunt as she struggles medically.
We love You and we humbly place this request at Your feet. AMEN

Thank you for that prayer, Sam, I appreciate it.
You know, I'm not sure what my aunt's relationship with the Lord is; but I hope she does have a personal relationship with Him and I do want to try to find out about that in the next few weeks. From talking to my cousin Teri, who told us she was sick, she seems to have a good attitude. She's a pretty tough lady. She's still doing as much as she can but she tires out real easily. She knew the cigarettes would catch up with her. My grandfather had lung cancer too, although that's not what he died from, they caught it in time. I will never understand why people do stuff that's so obviously bad for them.

Yeah, there's lots of suffering...........Warren's not feeling so good either, he's in physical pain and we are travelling, so that makes it even harder.
Guess the Lord's got mighty work for us to do in Sturgis and the enemy is on the warpath. We've been hit from all sides on this trip.....
But this morning we visited a small church outside of Denver, CO and the message was on Fiery Trials and the speaker had taken us through the story of Mechach, Shadrach and Abednego in Daniel and how they stood fast and didn't bow down to the kings idols and ended up in that fiery furnace and right there in the midst of that was Christ! We gotta remember that as we go through those trials that we are not going through them alone. But hey, I'm one of the first ones to cry and go: "But Lord, I'm sick of trials, I WANT OUT!!!!!"
It was a really appropriate message for the both of us as Warren sat there hurting and me worrying over him......God had THAT one planned and as I fretted this evening Warren reminded me of the message we heard this morning. He's such a great support and when I would have turned around and gone home, he's determined to press on and keep going! WOW! It's awesome to have someone in my life who keeps the focus where it should be!

{{{Shell}}} Hugs and prayers to you and your family. I am sorry you did not get a chance to see her before she passed.

Thanks Bridget. I did talk to her over the phone two or three weeks ago, and I sent her pictures of my nieces and nephews, so she knew I was thinking about her. She actually sounded surprisingly alert when I talked to her. She said she knew the cigarettes would catch up with her eventually and was glad to have done well up until when she found out she had cancer. I think she was at peace and ready to go, and it probably is just as well she didn't linger. I feel bad for my cousin, though, she was crying when she called us. I feel bad for my uncle too.
